Bring it back from the dead. This engine ended up going in a pick up truck, where I have put over 30,000 miles on it running 89 octane, with zero issues.

You are correct, and I was going to mention that. Yes, the shaft can wear out and give a high idle, but that is not what we are dealing with here, as far as I can tell.

Just like the BBK throttle body. Can't say I've ever seen a tpi throttle body go bad.

Its a bunch of money to invest in molds and make a product, when you don't even know there is a demand.

They offered it out, and got very little response, thus showing the demand does not meet...

Did GM ever puyt a manual behind a 400 sbc? Not to my knowledge.

If its a flywheel what did it come out of and how many teeth does it have?

My point is you have been given a whole lot of advice on what to check, but instead, you just added gears, which unless you are running a 31" tire, are way to low for a stock tpi

That's the wrong intake to replace your tpi, center bolts are at a different angle you will need some angled spacers for them to work.


Install kit includes bolts as well.

I have an edelbrock tbi intake and 454 tb waiting.
Big exhaust is next.

Tune is slightly rich, just a base tune to get me going for now.

I plan to do some dataloggimg and fine tuning soon.
