Sounds like you have the motor set up for boost as in reverse dome.
Didn't give the expected comp? Head cc, ect.

I woundn't trust a OEM 400sb with any good amount of boost unless it was
fully...

The crank webbing in those blocks marginal anyway.
Spent many hours per block deburring and smoothing the web areas,
(Stress cracks under flex.)

As to the vac versus mech secondaries it all depends on what your
intentions are for the car.

For the street the vac secondaries would be the best choice.
Not going to hurt strip use either...

Two motors ago had a set of Comp 1.6 roller tips under
my center bolts.
Those are vette heads but no valve cover mods.
Comp 1.6.
Also had them on my Iroc iron heads before going to the aluminum...

Simple answer, its going to give you .1 more lift at the cam as the roller
tip end is that much longer.
Save up for better upgrades.

Going from the high ratio you have now to a 3.73 gear is going to take
care of most of your problem.

750 vac secondary would be a good choice for your combo. Also helping

I use Tuner pro RT.

Don't have to disconnect the fuel lines.
Engine should be warmed up to get accurate readings but if your having time
issues between readings because of hookup time no biggie.

We ran quite a few 372 & 378 C.I motors in our stock cars, way
back, which are destroked 400 sb's.

We ended up having to O-Ring,(Stainless) and run copper head gaskets
with copper coat applied...

Checked them all out and going with Haggerty because of cost
and coverage.
$655.00 annually.

Dropped it to $30.000 agreed value and full coverage.
