Pulled the rear end down for a whine from the carrier bearing and noticed the spider gears are pitted and need replacing.

My sons in the Air Force and stationed in Texas and I'm here in North...

The whole assembly is in great shape, even the "5.0 Litre HO" decal on the lid...

Yea, the tail shaft has to be dropped to change the gears. I have to pull the transmission again anyhow. The new throw out bearing is squeaking.

Evidently the insulation on a hot wire has been damaged and going to ground or you have something connected wrong. The smoke comes from wire insulation or teminal melting.

F41 has always been the RPO code for the HP suspension upgrade. I've never seen a OEM badge though. In the 70's TA's had the F41 suspension as a stock item and an option on the Camaro's.
