i had the same problem. i set the timing at 12 degress btdc and the car ran fine. i just put another cam in and had to set the timing at 25 btdc. the last cam is pretty big though.

I screwed a bunch of 2x4's together to put on my jack to help me lower the tank. Then when the new pump was in I used it to empty the tank.

The injectors are stock. I had the fuel pressure at 49 psi and the motor ran fine but was fat. I dropped it to 46 psi and the exhaust cleaned up a little. The timing is at 38. Thats were the car...

a fuel pressure guage is cheap. it screws on to the shradder valve on the right fuel rail. it should be between 41 - 43 psi.

i put a piston through a cylinder and took the motor, disassembled, to a machine shop. he charged me $1200 to sleeved the cylinder, a new set of pistons clean and check everything and reassembled...

comp cams xtreme energy cam would work fine for what you want, .472 or .480 lift. the 2.02 heads should help. i bought my cam and lifters from cnc-motorsports.com they were cheaper than anyone else....
