if u keep driving it like that, your crankshaft will be trash, or a rod could snap. Had that same problem, then it started knocking from the bottom. Good Thing I broke the engine down before...

-bore .40 over
-RV cam(barely used)
-all 8 pistons(flat top) with factory GM rods

Misfire usual has something to do with spark plug, spark wire or distributer. Sound like the TIMING is OFF or U got the SPARK PLUG WIRES WIRED WRONG. And u say now the car has metallic knock pinging...

Well I put tha normal (red) gear oil in, about 2 1/2 quarts and fill tha rest up with 85w....it works fine wit my T5. It was just to make tha fliud a lil thicker.
