Steel...there should be a pink wire (I think) that used to connect to the oil pressure switch, that one is the main hot wire for the pump, the initial squrit is from the relays on the fire wall, just...

I had a very small draw on the battery, couldn't find a short anywhere, I placed a test light between positive lead and positive post, the light lite up...hmmm so I pulled each fuse, light didn't go...

Just to give you an idea, I found a 3.23 posi rear with disk off an 87 IROC, the hardest part of the swap or most time consumming was the E-break cables up in the tunnel, (very little room to work)...

I bought a 305 car without motor or tranny...so the convert for me was really quite easy, since I didn't have everything I went carb. I guess the hardest part was the wiring, removing the computer...

Remove the rubber around the windshildthen you'll have 1/4 inch gap, tape off the windshield...primer,paint, remolve tape replace weather stripping...

I went down to the local auto parts store and bought a kit that has a probe that you push through the Rad fins close to the tank, wire it up and when the Rad gets hot the probe tells the fan to turn...

Done it in a Camaro, just had to remove the AC and rad...and unbolt the braces, was an easy few hours....don't think the engine bays are that much different.

Just one quick question, is the fan wired to come on when the key is turned on? the reason I ask, if it is wired into a direct power supply, when you turn off the car the fan wil continue to freely...

As stated above, I'd first drain the oil, maybe into an old milk jug (clean and dry), see if there water in the oil...if not most likley condensation, are you running a pcv valve setup?
