Re: If you could order a brand new third gen, what would it be?

I'd disagree with that...

I'd order up another TTA. Bust off 11's and still get 29mpg with the A/C on. That's the best of both worlds.

Still miss mine :(

Re: Our third gens vs. the new camaro

GMC's look different now from Chevy. A big difference. The old days it was just a grill change but now there isn't a body panel that is the same. GMC is/always was the truck brand. They should...

WOW, can't believe I actually read through all of this. 400hp 305 only going 106mph, but it was in an article so it must be true.

This thread is full of fail except for a few that stated facts. ...

Re: Why an aluminum driveshaft?

Custom for the most part. Spohn and a few other vendors sell driveshafts that you can order ready to go.

Denny's and PST just need your measurements and they will make one for you.

That is what my WS6 did before I got the 1LE driveshaft. It fixed it for the most part. I now have a carbon fiber driveshaft and that took out all the vibration that was left.

Re: aluminum drive shafts

It doesn't add HP, it just frees up HP. Rule of thumb was 10lbs recipricating equaled 100lbs static. Plus the 1LE had a higher speed rating, IIRC.

Re: 1986 Camaro vs. 2002 Malibu

SRT-8 can go 0-60 in under 5 seconds. There is no 3rd gen that could do that. Even with the weight, the Charger is quicker.

A GTX was not the quick 0-60, close to 7 seconds. I'll have to check...

I don't know about that but a Charger will out run a 350 3rd gen. I'd have to look up what 0-60 for both was. Have to remember the Charger weighs 5-600 lbs more. And I've driven plenty of 305 and...

Re: 1986 Camaro vs. 2002 Malibu

Mainly because the V6 cars are quicker than most of the V8 3rd gens made. Heck most of them make more power.

Even my '11 Equinox has 264HP out of a 3.0 V6.

That gen Malibu will run in the 15's. I have an '00 with 246K miles on it and it'll probably run low 16's, it might still hit the high 15's.

You should be able to beat it though.
