Seems to be a brake in the wiring somewhere. If it was my car, I would try to put all wiring back to normal and trace/test wiring with a light tester or multi-meter. It may take long but easy to do...

Sounds like a relay problem, and PO was too lazy to find and fix the right way! There is a relay for your headlights/pop-up motor found on the top right behind the radiator cradle. $8-$12 per...

what grade of fuel are you running? My 87 gta WAS a b***h to start hot until I switched from 94 down too 89, since then it starts up just fine when hot.

What is your TPS set at? Stock setting is 0.54v!!!! If set too high, it will run rich. Set too low and it will run lean.

Agreed, it sounds like a VATS issue. Just try to keep it simple, check for loose wiring, bat terms clean, good bat, etc.

Avoid what many have done by throwing new parts at it!!!

im pretty sure the park safety switch wouldnt prevent the injectors from firing... I wouldn't rule it out, my Troubleshooting book lists that as a posibility...."Automatic transmission not completely...

Had a similar problem w/ wife's 94 Tempo........It would ONLY start if the floor shifter was exactly dead center of the Park position. It had a stick switch/sensor. IDK if our car's have it too?!?!?!...

If I understand how injectors work, the only real thing that changes going from 19 lbs to 22 or 24 lbs injectors is how long they stay open to deliever fuel into the engine. Its fine to go from EX....

I'm using a 160 stat and a Hypertech #4026 fan switch(On at 177*/Off at 166*) this combo keeps my temps...

Just "thinking out of the box".....last summer I too had a surging problem turned out to be a weak battery. It started up just fine,it just couldn't handle much load at idle, a new battery fixed that...

I got one from a 00 Grand Prix (CD w/7 eqlzr) for $100. I didn't really find anything cheaper on Ebay or kajiji. Plus all deck lights are red/orange.

OMG guys, very simple.....

Hypertech Cool Fan Switch...
#4026 On at 176* Off at 166* You will need to change out stock t-stat and R/R with lower stat, (160*-170*)

You could even try Ebay...
