OK... The 92 Z28 I bought a few months ago has some gray colored drop springs on it. I was told they were Hotchkis but Hotchkis claims 1" drop for theirs, and these look more like 2". I want to know what they are before I start swapping all my suspension stuff over from my '91 Z, because if I get new ones, I want to put them on while everything is tore down.

They could be Eibach Pro-kit springs. They drop the height of the vehicle by 1" and they are gray in color. They are a very p[popular spring choice for these cars. They will say Eibach with a part # if these are the springs on that vehicle.

Eibachs are black... And the ones on the 92 are more like a 2" drop. I have the Eibach Pro Kit on my '91.

if they are not hotchkis, and "look" like a 2" drop, then they must be a 2" drop no-name spring, or cut hotchkis springs.

does it really matter? do you like the stance/ride or no? does it suit your future suspension plans? if not, ditch them and pickup whatever set does.

I have a brand spank'n new front Eibach Pro-kit spring in my lap at this very moment and the color is in fact a metallic gray (and I'm not color blind). It says "Eibach Springs 228060" and then one coil below it, it says "3801.201." I would take a picture to really send home the fact that they are gray, but I don't currently have a working digital camera.

OK, just got off the phone with Eibach... All of the Pro Kit springs are a dark charcoal/graphite gray called "black diamond" and all of the Sportline springs are red, which means they are probably the Hotchkis and have been cut, so them hoes are coming off for a set of Sportlines.

i would no recommend the sportlines unless you plan to do nothing with he car except putz around town with it. the rear springs suck

I have the Pro Kit on my '91 and they are not low enough. I am swapping all my suspension stuff over to the '92 including the Koni Yellows, so I think it will end up pretty good. The Sportlines are progressize rate just like the Pro Kit, but lower.

Yes but the spring rate is a lot softer.

PS - I have Sportline rear springs if anyone wants to buy them...

I have ProKit...they are Black. Sportlines are Red. Hotchkis are Black I think. Suspension Techniques are Purple. Ive seen some ones that are Blue.
Sorry if this doesnt help, but maybe narrows it down??

The Pro Kit is actually a super dark gray
Hotchkis is regular gray
I think Bilstein (sp?) use to have blue
Drop Zone - not sure
Intrax - not sure
Tokiko - not sure
Summit Racing - same color as Hotchkis
