I just installed a 12 bolt rear in the car and found i can't use the stock sway bar. Can i use the car without one? I've never used a rear sway bar in any of my other cars, but these were always 70's mopars. I also put in eibach pro kit springs with koni sport shocks and struts.
of coarse you can use the car without a swaybar, its just gonna handle crappy, why can't you use the swaybar? are the axle tubes a different size than factory? whats the issue?

A rear sway bar reduces understeer/increases oversteer. Without it, your car will tend to plow in high speed turns. It is safe to drive without a rear sway bar on an F-body although handling suffers.
If you decide to install an aftermarket rear sway bar, you will be much happier with the car.
Cheers!

Do you have different size axle tubes, or is the bar hitting the center section? You will either need differnet size clamps, or wll have to add a spacer under the axle clamps for clearance.
You Camaro will likely handle like one of the 70's Mopars without a rear bar. It will be driveable, but not like a Camaro should handle.
Some Berlinettas came without one, BUT the front sway bar was a different size. I didn't feel comfortable with the way it handled as it was and upgraded it.
To add to the handling issues that have been noted, the rear bar also does a lot for traction and torque steer. - You can get larger U-bolts to fit larger tubes, and spacers can be added between the tubes and the mounts to gain clearance around the housing.
I have the Strange 12 bolt in my car and had no problem using a stock sway bar with the factory rear end brackets. I'm running the 18mm bar as the car was over steering with the 21mm and larger ones when on heavy throttle. As the 12 bolt is heavier than the factory rears, you will experience oversteer, so you might want to get a smaller rear bar (or a firmer front one).
i actually have somethien to say!!! i recently went to the scca regonal/national road race in here in oklahoma and there were some third gens without one. i talked to a guy and he doesnt use one. things it defeats the purpose. using a big frnt tho.(this is at nationals! so they know?

so they were running no rear bar, but a big front bar?
yes i believe so. he said i dont run one i think it defeats the purpose and i think he said into a turn it just tried to slide and just didnt work right. if im not mistaken he used a modified 1LE front.
it looked like he cut it off at the turns and splined it then attached a flat peice of alm to it. ill try to get a pic for help with this. he said something about having to modify the ends because they did not move enough stock? said the bolts couldnt take it or somethig that part made no since
