After doing some research, I have found numerous companies that do not specify that their TA fits a 9 bolt rear end. Some of them even say that "This will not fit the Borg Warner 9 Bolt Rear end found in some F-bodies" - Ok??

Is there a difference in mounting between it and the 10 bolt and does anyone have experience using one on the 9 bolt?

I used the UMI Torque Arm and it works great. Make sure to get Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets also because the torque arm will punch the roof of the tunnel without them. Especially if the vehicle is lowered. I am speaking from experience.

I can see how it would hit the tunnel if lowered. I guess you were running the TQ arm relocation bracket on the transmission cross member?

The old Edelbrock torque arm wouldn't fit a 9-bolt. Info in the following link:

swapped rear ends in a 1985 trans am 9 bolt to a 92 10 bolt rear end, the torque arm mounted just fine. mounts in same location, not sure why there would be any problem. both 10 bolt and 9 bolt use same mounting locations.

same holes, same depth, same spacing same everything for the torque arm to be bolted up to either rear end.

Note the curved rear (also note where the modification was made in the Edelbrock). The curve, I suspect, allows more room than an aftermarket version.

Yeah all the aftermarkets don't "just bolt up" - One of the guys at UMI didn't even know what a 9 bolt was!! I had to explain that they came on "certain" third gens with performance options. Not only that but there are manufacturers who specify that it wont fit.

Another reasoning I got (from a UMI guy who knew what a 9 bolt was), is that there are "bosses" on the rear that needs to be ground off that the 10 bolt doesn't have.

Im pretty much just going to have to look. I wish I had the old 10 bolt to compare... If someone wants to post up 10 bolt pics... I will be more than happy to provide the 9 bolt shots.
