Whose complete 2 in drop kit to use?

I don't want to just use springs, I kinda want a complete kit. Car is just a cruiser, don't need a race type setup. Goals are a good look but also would like my fronts to stop rubbing while turning.

Re: Whose complete 2 in drop kit to use?

That's a little misleading, you can't just use any spring rate you want with weight jacks. The spring is so short that you're limited to high spring rates. And the choices are narrowing now that circle track changed rules and allow coil overs. The circle track rules were what fueled the choices of springs we had with weight jacks. Now the choices are drying up because the rules changed and production volume is way down. This is all a fairly recent development so things are now different from the days when I bought my weight jacks.

Hi, kenmaisaano, looks like a nice car you've got there. We have a monthly Car of The Month event here on the forum where people get nominated and share their stories and pictures. Maybe check out the "bait" thread and see if you want to post a picture so people know about your car, and then maybe somebody will nominate you for Car of The Month and you can have the fun of participating in that event.

There's the Large Marge Lowering Kit, but you might need to pick up two of them to get a 2" drop. And watch out for speed bumps.

There are only 2 ways that you're going to stop the wheels from rubbing- don't turn the steering wheel as far and put stock width wheels/tires on the car.

Weight jacks, coilovers, drop spindles... are all race car things on these cars... drop springs and maybe airbags are about the only thing resembling a "street" setup that will lower one of these things.

It's worse than that. 245/50R16s will rub before lock, depending on the section width.

Fatchix aren't 'race' hardware. They're practically free too, depending on how you look at it. Play your cards right and she might even use her tax return and brand new Sears card to put 22s on your car. Just don't go trying to use them to make yourself a woman suit, the authorities don't take too kindly to that kinda thing.

Re: Whose complete 2 in drop kit to use?

I have 17x9 wheels that don't rub at all. 5" backspace, plus an extra 3/8" or so with the C6 brake rotors.
The stock tires on 15x7 wheels did rub the aftermarket sway bar. But not any more with the 17x9. It's all about the backspacing, man.

Re: Whose complete 2 in drop kit to use?

I got sport line springs. 1.3/1.6 drop

Can I renuse struts and shocks or get new? Is OE OK or what?

Also, I'm probably going to have to re adjust all my rear suspension and get an alignment done correct?

Every now and then you can find old Belltech drop spindles. Those are a decent option for the front without messing with many things.

Looking good. All you've changed is the springs? No shocks or struts or anything?
