Unable to find correct height trans mount

Morning everyone,

Need to find a replacement rubber trans mount but all I have seen are too tall. I'm not even sure which mount I currently have as it's a lot shorter than all the replacements I have seen at parts stores. I bought one from O'Reilly but it's too tall and I have a bad shake. I just can't find one short enough and I'm not sure what I need. I'm not wanting a poly or a solid mount either. I'll attach some pictures of my broken one.

Thanks

Edit: The car is a 1987 350tpi/700r4 car and the local dealer says the mount is discontinued. Does anyone have a mount like this and/or a part#? I have a show on Father's Day I would like to go to.

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

I just left there. NAPA is shipping a universal mount to the local store, it looks promising. If it will work I'll post the part#.

Thanks for replying!

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

All the china replacements are terrible and don't last.

Only option is the poly stuff but introduces some vibration

Im trying to avoid poly for that reason. The universal mount looks much more like my broken mount height wise. I have also installed the umi torque arm relocation crossmember to take some load off the mount as well.

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

Well the universal mount from Napa is still much taller than the old one. I really don't want to run a poly mount but can anyone tell me what the shortest mount is? I'd also much prefer black not red. I'm also very curious why my old mount is so short.

Edit: Here's a side by side of the height issue. The part# is actually A2818. I have part# A2394 in the car now but its only slightly shorter than the one pictured.

I've never heard of this before. Do you have a part#? How exactly are they modifying it?

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

The old mount wasn't giving me any problems besides being broken. The new mount caused a shake/vibration. I too haven't heard of anyone having this problem.

What about my motor mounts? I know those are prone to sagging. If they are sagging would new ones lower the tail shaft enough to compensate for the taller trans mount?

The picture i posted is the anchor brand for 3rdgen.

i think it was the 98-02 mount people are modding. Trim metal to fit and maybe slot the holes? It's been a long time since i saw that. Search for a picture on web then look to see what may need done to fit

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

The 4th gen mounts are totally different. I really don't want to do it but how tall are the poly mounts? I know they have a plate but what's the lowest height mount? Also read that energy suspension and prothane are different firmness. I'd definitely want the softest I can get.

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

For whatever it's worth, I used an Energy Suspension poly mount without the pre-load plate to match the height of the broken stock mount.

I have no driveline vibration at all.

YMMV.

What was the height of each mount? Do you have a part# for the ES mount?

Thanks for the reply

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

OP, any chance your car has a 2-piece crossmember? These have been an issue for some time. One fix is to swap to a 1-pice crossmember with the run-of-the-mill mount.

That's what's in the car now causing the vibrations. I installed that one thinking my old on sagged overtime.

I sent thirdgen ranch an email earlier and waiting to hear back.

You might want to check the reviews on thirdgen ranch.

Re: Unable to find correct height trans mount

Well everyone I at least have a temporary fix. As much as I hate ghetto rigging stuff I can at least drive my car. Those are two stainless bands from a local muffler shop.

I am still obviously looking for a new mount but bought some time.

I really appreciate all the help!
