I can swap any part I want with a '87 350 TBI Van!

A buddy has a '87 350 TBI van that is getting reposected and he's told me that I can swap out anything that I want to as long as it still runs. I will most likly only have a day and a half to do this so I don't thinh I will be able to swap motors. But is there anything else that I could swao that would help me out? Please give me some info on this as I'm going to start swaping tomarrow. So far all I know is to check to see if it has the BLH EST module and maybe a limited slip in the rear end that I could swap. My car don't have to run in a day and a half but the van does. Please help!!

Grab the engine.

That's any easy one day job. You don't have to get your car running the same day, just the van. IT should be a straight plug and play deal as well.

If you are new to swaps than you are going to need more than a day. Everything external on the motors will mate up but you will have to switch out computers if you are not burning new chips for the swap. Does that van have a mechanical fan or electric. That is another thing that would need to be replaced. It is very striaght forward but you would be hard pressed to do it in a day. Even the guys who are great at it need a day or two not to mess anything up.

I don't mean swap the 350 INTO his car.

He only needs to yank the 350 from the van, and put the 305 in the van, as long as it RUNS....

Rip it down to the long block, yank it and repeat.

Yea I know what you mean. You are going to have to swap computers because the chips are not compatible. It can be done but you will always run into somethings that are different between the two. It would be a very long day. I know you are only installing the 305 in the van but you still have to pull two motors. You may want to look for some detailed info in the engine swap board.

I'm not saying it's EASY EASY by ANY means...

But feasible with some tools and maybe a helping hand or two...

I don't think I will be able to swap motors, and yes the van does have a machancel fan(its a clutch fan). And van motors are harder to pull than a cars, he|| its mostly in the cab. Besides I've already got a motor that I'm building and another 4bolt 350 sitting in the yard. I just thought there might be some parts to help the 305 out. I'm really hoping for that limited slip rear end. Vans are 10 bolt, right? Do ya know if there 7.5" or what, I just want the limited slip to fit in my cars rear end. Or do ya think that the whole rear end will swap out? I'm going to get it this eveining. He's got to have it at the lot around lunch on Thursday.
Thanks, Bobby

I doubt that rear is a 7.5", and since the van is probably a 1500 the axles are going to be longer I think. Even if it was a 7.5" posi you can't use your camaro axles, you have 28 spline, and that will have 26.

swap the injectors, you will be able to use the 350 ones in your 305 for the time being, and they'll be helpful when you put in one of your 350's. The 305 injectors shouldn't confuse the van too much either.

Both will run funny with different injectors on the stock tune. I geuss it doesn't matter if it doesn'r well but keep the 350 injectors for later down the road. They will cause you problems in the meantime.

Ya, I really want the 350 injectors but the van has to run when it took to the lot(not good but running). I want to keep the 305 injectors in my 305 for now. That suxs about the rear end! Oh well I still give it a look around and get back with ya lator, I'm gone to get it now. I'll be happy with the BLM ESC module. Keep the susjestions coming!
