Leaky injectors

At over 200K, I don't know if they are the original injectors or not, but how long do they typically last?

I'm thinking of just buying the new o-rings kit becuase the injectors themselves are about $120 each.

The injectors only dribble when the engine is running, but not when just the key is on.

I replced the fuel meter cover about year ago.

I'm pretty sure I just need new o-rings, but to TBI injectors really last 200K with no problems?

How does the car run? It is very normal to see a conical shape to the TBI injector spray with the occasional drip.

It runs fine, but a little rich. No trouble codes and it backfired once last week, which is why I checked the injectors.

These injectors are pretty tough. If they give a good spray pattern when you snap the throttle open then dont worry too much about it.

Yeah, I'd just get the TBI rebuild kit with the 2 sets of o-rings and the filters and it should seal up good. When I tried to use old o-rings, they dripped at idle pretty bad. Get new o-rings and grease them up before installing them and you should be good to go.

mine was doing pretty much the same and it was the o rings...while youre at it either replace or clean the filters at the bottom of the injectors .that'll help also...whan you take the inj. out pull up and give a slight twist to break loose they will be tough but they'll come out...and like stated before use a little lube(motor oil)to grease up the o rings before installing them...I promise you will tell a differance...(while you have the top off turn your fuel pressure up about 2 full turns and advance your timing a little...done it, it helped mine out tremendously)

If you get a good rebuild kit it will come with all that crap even the filters for the injectors.

part #

go to autozone or go to autozone.com and choose search for a part number...you may have to put in your vehicle type but search for part #96-3013A.this is the kit i used to change my o rings and several other gaskets are included too...and its only $5.99...theres another one for about $40 that has alot more parts in it but this one was plenty to seal and clean up my tbi.I think you eill be satisfied also...

I went to Autozone a few minutes ago, having the part # is a big help, thanks.

After I told him what kind of car I have, the genius there told me the biggest engine that came in my Firebird was a 3.1 V6. His computer screen said "Sunbird" on it. I just left, I couldn't handle it.

I'll try Kragen or somewhere else tomorrow.

Looks like Kragen will have it, but in that picture, it looks like there is only 1 o-ring.

Don't forget to put ATF, yes Auto Tranny Fluid on the O-rings when you install them. The Rebuild Kit should tell you to do this, but it is crucial for proper sealing and longevity of the O-rings.

I've read that about the ATF, but some people say they just use motor oil.

I'd forgotten about this thread. I bought the rebuild kit a year ago and haven't done a thing to my car since.
