i have heard that the 90's 5.0 tbi caprice used by cops had a different chip in them that did not have speed limit and had higher shift point and better WOT, and they could be used in a stock 5.0 tbi camaro. is this true and what performance gains would you get?
how can you tell if its a cop car chip and not just a stock 5.0 tbi caprice chip?

you may be correct but I have never seen nor heard of a 305 in a cop car. It is always the lt1 with the ANLU chip from everything I have read. I know the ANTT is for the 305 TBI camaro because thats the one I have in mine presently and am actively looking for the ANLU chip (or atleast one for a 350 TBI for the 8746 ECM)
The BCC ANLU is for the '89 Caprice with the L05 engine (not the LT1).
I am fairly certain that the BIN has been posted here on either the TBI board or the DIY_PROM board. Can just get a burner and a chip or two and burn your own. It isn't the best for a Camaro due to the weight and exhaust system differences. However, with GM never putting an L05 in an f-body, it is a starting point.
I think this is getting off into left field somewhere from what he was asking, he said he heard the cop cars had a 305 TBI engine and was wondering if he got a chip out of one of those would it help his car. I said I have never heard of a 305TBI in a cop car so wasn't sure if he had been given the wrong information or if I just hadn't heard of the same thing he had

well if thats the case this forum is very confusing because from every post i have read everyone alwasy screams to get the ANLU chip from the caprice cop car and the injectors from it as well and now you are saying this isn't a good thing. If this isn't correct in your opinion then what chip/injectors would be the ones to use
I just said that it isn't ideal, or the best for a Camaro. But is a starting point.
I can't speak for why everyone screams to just get ANLU for a L05 swap into an f-body. But hey, it's a COP CAR chip and we all know that COP CARs got the best of everything .
It may be that folks like to be able to get a chip that just dops in and eliminates both VATs and the speed limiter. The cop cars ran slightly largers injectors at 65#/hr. Most likely to help cool the engine during pursuit.
Note that I just posted ANLU on your ebay parts thread.
ok i was just wondering why everyone says thats what to get and then now i hear its not the best and was confused. I am sorry if I ask allot of stupid questions but this is the first swap I have done that had a ECM in it
I don't think the ANLU would do much good on the 305 but I am not up on all the computer stuff myself either but I think the ANLU is for the 350 injectors. I would imagine that if the cop car has a 305 in it then they probably do have the speed limiter flashed out of it and maybe a few other things like VATS and stuff also but as i said earlier I am not up on all the computer stuff myself either. Everything I have owned prior to this was american muscle cars in the late 60's early 70 model years and I have never messed with anything with a computer in it until now
but what would be the best performance chip to put in? the anlu chip?
350 chip to run a 305 with different injectors see FP? probably not wery well.
Swap the 22+years old ECM technology with a EBL flash, much better for performance and fuel economy. There is not one good reason to keep the stock ECM as is, the gas saving alone will cover the expense of the EBL quickly even on a stock car, let alone including the number of chips you will need to run eventual future mods fairly.
