Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

Last November one of the injectors failed on my 90 Camaro rs with 305 tbi. I replaced the injector with a Standard one I got online. That one came with the gasket. Fast forward a year and the other injector just failed. I couldn’t find another NOS standard one on eBay so I ended up buying one from the local auto parts store and it doesn’t come with this paper gasket and the auto parts store can’t find a listing for just this gasket. Anyone here know the part number for it and where I can get it? Worst case scenario I’m hoping I can maybe we use the one I installed last year, I put gasgachinch on it so hopefully it won’t rip apart when I disassemble the unit

Re: Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

Also, does anyone here know if this injector would work for my application? It has the correct gasket, the part number in the box is 2-18200. it includes the injector and gasket I need. The injector looks the same but the part number shows it being for an 84 Camaro not a 1990. I didn’t want to buy it if it won’t work for my apllication.

I'd have to research the injector but rock auto has TBI gasket kits.

Thanks “Shifty”,I only need that one gasket though, not the entire kit. The last injector I bought had that one paper gasket with it. The injector they sell at Autozone doesn’t come with anything beside the two rubber o rings. If that other injector will work I can buy that one,it has the one paper gasket with it.

I still can’t find the paper gasket at any of my auto parts stores. I did buy the injector from there. When inserting it there’s a Little Notch that I believe faces forward, but I’m not hearing a “click” when it pushes in like I Did when I replace the last one a year ago. I tried pushing it down but it doesn’t go in further

Re: Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

Thanks again ShiftyCapone for helping out. Guess I’ll have to get that one. They used to sell those for a couple bucks a couple years back! Beats spending $30 on a kit thought.
As far as the other question,I guess someone must have bought that injector I posted a photo of here because it vanished this morning. Supposedly it didn’t fit the 1990 Camaros and was a for a 2.5 motor, but the gasket and injector sure looked the same. I was wondering if it would have worked. Oh well.

I re-use those gaskets (unless they're visibly damaged) after I assure the metal piece on top of it is actually flat. OTOH, "$30" for a kit gets you the base gasket and the pressure regulator diaphragm, too, along with all the other gaskets. I keep a kit on hand.

"Double-Strength" glass plate for flatness, some 220-grit sandpaper. All I need to "re-machine" the injector cover.

As removed.

A few swipes across the sand paper. Not at all flat...yet.

Getting better. Still high in the middle.

Good enough for me. Could have scrubbed it until all traces of pitting were gone, but the gasket will easily seal this piece.

Re: Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

Thanks Schurkey, I was unable to reuse the old gasket as it ripped when I took the metal top assembly off. My new gaskets came today. After I scrape the gasket off both pieces what would you recommend I use,I have Gasgacinch and a new tube of permatex #2. I don’t want it to leak. I had used gasgacinch when I replace the other injector a year ago. I figured it would make it easier to get apart if I needed to again, but the gasket still ripped.
I’ve heard others say permatex number 2. What’s the general consensus here?
also this injector didn’t make a “click” sound when it was inserted like the other one did a year ago,but it seems to be in. The little metal index tab on the bottom faces forward, correct?

Re: Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

You should not need to use a sealer on the gasket. Fel-Pro among others makes a special point of saying their gaskets don't need additional sealer. If the surfaces are smooth, flat, and clean, I suspect that most gaskets don't need sealer. But applying sealer is a tough habit to break.

For ****'s sake, DO NOT apply RTV Silicone to a gasket. RTV Silicone is used INSTEAD of a gasket, not slimed onto a gasket. And most RTV Silicones are not suitable for contact with gasoline.

I'm thinking I put Gasgacinch (my overall favorite gasket sealer) on the top piece, nothing on the bottom. But I don't remember for certain.

I would NOT use Permatex #2. The gasket will rip in half leaving a total mess on both pieces that would have to be cleaned-up with substantial labor the next time it comes apart. One of the reasons I like Gasgacinch is that it (usually) makes for easy clean-up whenever the assembly comes apart later on.

I don't know why the injector would "click" when installed; unless you're just hearing the O-rings seating. If the top goes on nicely, the injectors are in place as they should be. But you could pop the injector back out to verify that the O-rings are appropriately lubed and not ripped.

Re: Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

Hi Schurkey,Don’t worry,I NEVER use RTV silicone on anything automotive, not even water necks on cars. I always use Gasgacinch. I’m pretty careful about researching things to get the right product. I know Gasgacinch is gasoline resistant, but was told in the shop by a guy who claimed he was a retired mechanic that permatex #2 would be better sealing in this situation so I figured I’d ask here.
I’ve had my can of Gasgacinch for over a year but it’s still nice runny inside so I’ll use that on the gasket. I doubt the gasket I got is made by felpro. I bought it off eBay.
Thanks for the input on the injector not needing to make a “click”. The videos I watched on YouTube claimed it would click when pushed in.
I did use the white petroleum/Vaseline on the O rings as you suggested. I’ll be working on installing the gaskets this morning. Hope there won’t be any leaks. This things been down for a week now while I got the parts.
By the way, what’s the shelf life on Gasgacinch? I bought mine over a year or so ago when I replaced my thermostat. It’s still nice and runny inside, but the level has gone down,so I will likely buy a new can soon.as long as it’s runny and stil drips off the ball shaped applicator it should be fine to use, right?

Yes, should be fine.

I bet it can be rejuvenated as it ages by adding a teaspoon-full of mineral spirits. (or more, depending.)

Yes,it seems like the solvents evaporate with age. It’s still liquid but thicker than it was when I first bought it

Re: Can someone help me out with a part # for this TBI gasket?

Regarding the stud on the injector, one injector it goes toward the front, the other toward the rear. Can look inside of the pod to see which is which. Can also trial fit the injector without the o-rings.

Funny thing about the '84 injector having that gasket. An '84 would be a Cross-Fire setup, uses two 1-bbl units. And doesn't use that gasket.

In our f-bodys the 2-bbl TBI unit was used until '88.
