how frustrating

i was doing the free afpr mod right. and i got it all drilled and ready to put back together.

the gasket broke on the injector pod (both parts, near the back and the front).

so i pieced it back together and gave it a try. nope! sprays gas out the back gasket area.

****.

i wlak a mile to work to catch a ride to auto store.

all rtv's recommend not using on gas areas...

so i get this sheet of gasket material.

i spend like literally 5 ****ing hours trying to cut out the right shape for the major part of the injector pod.

finally get it looking GREAT.
carry it out and put it on car. HOORAY the back end doesnt spray.

just the front.

****.

i just worked 10pm to 6am (7 am since D.S.T.) a 9 hour shift. i have to work again at 10pm tonight. im so ****ing frustrated.

sorry to rant.

I have like 6 of those throttle body gasket kits laying around with various gaskets and stuff missing. The worst one are the injector o-rings, because they expand once fuel/heat touches them and won't go back in. It's a real PIA when doing tuning with different injectors.

Yeah, if that much. Any Napa or Autozone should have it.

i donth ave a fuel pressure gauge and i turned the screw maybe 1 1/2 turns AT the most. (made the spring more compressed) and now the car feels funny. its slowerr on the low end, but high end feels better?

Is there a reason you are upping the fuel pressure? If you have a stock motor, there is no need to make this change.

turn it back one turn and you will be fine.its probably running rich now...you could advance your timing a little too..the factory always retards timing for fuel economy and to cover themselves

my timing is set at 6* with the little plug unplugged.

i run 93 gas.

sometime this week im starting my nitrous install. THATS why im upping the fp.

also, the car is like.. feeling better everytime i drive it. the low end is back to where it was? and the top end feels so much better. it.... feels stronger, but feels rich at the same time?

because i did a search and everyone said to to make sure it was at least 15psi.

also searched and found that the fp was stock between 12 and like 14 or whatever.

You found a thread with bogus information.

At 15psi of fuel pressure, the jetting from NOS for the TBI kit will be VERY rich (ask me how I know).

I'm not trying to be an *** or anything, but you are better off with your FP at a stock setting, why give up driveability all the time, in hopes of making your nitrous perform a little better (which it will not).

Set your FP back to stock, see how the car runs. With the stock FP, the NOS jetting will still be a hair on the rich side, as they jet them of the safer side of things, not always the optimal side of things.

The reason you are having problems at low RPM's is that you are dumping the gas in, maybe even to the point of fouling the plugs.

Yeah, listen to Dewey, he knows what he's talking about with setting up nitrous on these cars. As far as running nitrous, maybe I'm one that likes to live on the safe side, but I don't think I would ever run it without knowing for sure I was getting all the fuel pressure i needed. This means, I would want to install a pressure gauge to read what it is under load. Honestly, I probably woudln't run nitrous without replacing the stock fuel pump with a Walbro unit of the like, but maybe that's just me.

That is very good advice BronYrAur.

As for testing the fuel pressure. What I did, was use a tap into my fuel lines, that tap is a -4an line, the line there runs to my nitrous noid. The standard GM fuel pressure port is a -4an fitting, so it works well. To test it, I just use a -4/-4/-4 tee, and I can hook up a FP gauge, and also run the car, with the nitrous.
