"Spectre" oil pans
I put a new Spectre oil pan ($30 at Checker's) on my 400 SBC last nite then dropped in the car. I went to put the torque converter bolts on there and... the engine gets to a point where it just wont spin. I think I can go 90 degrees each way then it just goes "tink!" and stops. From what I can see, the rods are hitting the side of the pan ! What the hell ? Why would it do that ? My previous chrome Spectre pan didn't give me any problems. Does a 400 require a special wider pan or something ? Or should I go in there and snip some of the splash shield inside the pan off ?
