1987 MAF Sensor Removal
I want to have the MAF screens and the cooling fins removed by TPIS, but have a question before I remove the sensor.
How do you reinstall the forward-most clamp that connect or secures the air intake to the MAF sensor?
I don't mean the clamp at the flex boot, that is easy. I mean the one that is "crimped" on. This is a unique clamp.
Anyone that has done this please explain or if you used a non-stock clamp or something else please send photos.
Thanks,
Scott

well, mine did not come with the camaro air box but, when I put it in my car I found a screw type clamp off a 87 pontiac 6000 (2.8) that fit perfect. and allows the removal any time you feel like it. other wise I guess a cv shaft clamp crimping tool may work to reinstall the factory one back on it

Have the screens and heat sink fins removed by TPIS? Just curious, but how much is that going to cost?
For about $163.00, you can get a Wells/Conrad SU-145 MAF that flows better than a gutted stock MAF, and won't have any of the potential problems of the MAF with inadequate heat sink area and incorrect sampling from the lack of screens. You'll also get all the stainless steel screw-type replacement clamps you'll need to install it.

I was able to pop that clamp loose on mine, and refit it...don't recall exactly what i did, but I don't recall it being difficult.
BTW, you should search on "MAF+Screens+Removal"...you see many posts that go like this:
"Just removed MAF screens, now have code...."
Anyway, I'd take Vaders adavice.

Gutted MAF
Vader:
They want $45 to do the work, not including shipping.
Where did you get your Wells?
Thanks,
Scott
