Does your LG4 have a knock sensor? The L69 does, and if yours doesnt, you'll get a constant SES light as the computer looks for your knock sensor.

Aftermarket chips are junk, just save your money. Especially for carb cars, there really isnt much the computer does for them.

Save your money.. Buy a new didtributor & good ignition system.. I bought an MSD 6A system & distributor and it made a world of difference..

I was going to buy a chip, but was told that it wouldn't make that much of a difference..

You buy a new non-comp distributor then you have to buy a non-comp controlled carb also. And vice versa.

The L-69 has a better spark advance curve but that's about it, aside from knock sensor issues. If you really want to get a chip then just get a standard "stage 1" chip for your year of LG-4. It will have a more agressive timing curve but will otherwise work with everything else that came stock on your LG-4. Not stirctly necessary, IMHO, though. Bump up the timing 4-6* over the stock setting and you get basically the same results for $0.
