Great, now i get to spend more money on my !@#$ Camaro...
ok heres the deal...
1992 305 TBI Auto Stock RS
the car worked just fine this last week, and all that, havnt been having a problem...
i parked it saturday night about 3 in the morning, it sat all night, all day, and at around 7 sunday night, i tried to start it, and it started to turn but wouldnt, i tried and tried and tried, hit the gas a little, and it turned over, idled a little rough, but i just thought since it was cold and sitting it would do that, went to start it today(monday afternoon), and it started up fine(i have a remote starter and started it before i went out to the car), and i go out, its idling high, there is a mega loss of acceleration, and the service engine soon light flicks on and off very fast...
i tried plugging in my key to get codes, but nothing showed up...
any ideas?

if the light is flickering on and off quickly, it sounds like the ECM is in field service mode for some reason. maybe ur ECM is fried. just a guess!!

Ok, its back again, now about everytime i turn my car on, the service engine light soon blinks repeatedly, loss of acceleration, idle in drive and others is 1000rpm, and 1500 in idle, and after driving for 30 mins to an hour, it just stops and drives normal, i have a moded chip in there, could that be the problem? i just want to have anymore opinions, im gonna try dropping my stock chip back in tonight...
thanks

I'll bet its your fuel pump.
I had a very similar problem, took almost 3 weeks before I even got an SES code. If you can get a fuel guage and check the pressure.

Ok, i put the stock chip back in, and the car still runs the same(loss of accelration, if i mash it, it doesnt shift till high in the RPM's), still idles at 1000rpm in drives, 1500rpm in neutral, but the service engine soon light is solid now, and if i put my GM key in the ADL or whatever connector, i get no codes, ILF RST or whatever that is blinks a few times(normally before, the service engine soon light would blink a few times, but it doesnt now, it just stays on solid)...
anymore ideas?

i have been having this same exact problem for about 3 weeks now..
i'm thinking it's my ecm acting up.. i replaced it a little over a year ago when i thought it was bad,.. kinda wish i kept the old one cause it turned out it wasn't bad.. it was a shorted fuel injector on my car :-(
and the ecm only came with a 1 year warranty which just ended like last month :-(

You may have to pardon my car techo stupidity, but how can a mechanical carb give you better performance than a computer that can monitor, adjust, blah blah blah, on the fly, with a single chip, and no mechanical tuning needed?

When things go wrong on these fuel injected cars, people have an absolute fit trying to track it down. Carb and vacuum advance is just a lot simpler--with a whole lot less that can go wrong
Not to mention the costs of these fuel injected parts

I've thought hard about getting an EFI car, but every time I think about it, I look at my engien bay and think, man it's so nice not to have a whole bunch of stuff in the way. Even the cleanest efi car would be hard pressed to have as clear of an engine bay as mine. Like has already been said, carbs and a mechanical HEI are simple and easy to diagnose. It's a lot easier to change a carb than to change injectors and computer programming. For me to put a bigger carb on, it takes maybe 15 minutes and then some tuning time. A carb is like the most effective MAF ever designed. It brings in air, mixes the fuel, and sends it on its way.
Noe for EFI. It is much more efficient than a carb. Better fuel mileage will result. You can usually run more compression than with a carb. Because it is more precise, turbochargers have finally been able to really come in to general use.
There are lots of pros and cons to each system.
