Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
I think those are like side draft carburetors, Weber or something. That's called a "velocity stack" on each one. Looks like a domestic engine from the valve covers, but those weirdo carbs are more of a european thing typically (Ferrari, etc).

I figured it was a velocity stack of some sort, Was hopeing it was fuel injections. I figured with my luck it was carburated though.
Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
Could be, just like a throttle body injector, but I doubt it.

You say that like it's a bad thing...? Those things worked pretty good, the response of a port injection without the hassle of a computer, "the ease of tuning of a carb"
However the ease of tuning is multiplied by 8, so "ease" is kinda loosely used there...

I have become a fan of injection in the last few years. Thats pretty much why I was hopeing for that. Tuning 8 Carbs??? I'm not so sure I would want to do that.
Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
I have a picture somewhere of a SBC with a fuel injected mainifold just like that, with 8 individual throttle bodies. It was at a car show last year. If I can find it, I'll post it up, googling I couldn't find anything.
Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
I remember that scene, but I sure don't remember seeing anything under the hood. I would have remembered seeing something that oddball... Oh well, i'll check that when I get home.
Yea, she referred to it as a "high rise carburetor", which just made me shake my head... then again if she was checking under my hood i'd be doing a whole lot of head bobbing... hahahaha

This thread took a pretty big direction change when I posted that pic didn't it?
Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
It looks to be a Weber side draft setup, used on some Corvette race cars in the 1960's, I saw photos of the '63 Grand Sport corvette and it had 4 of these (each is a 2 barrel). Never seen them on a street car before, but definately on a Chevy! The linkage must be really hard to set up correctly.

Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
The engine bay they showed in the movie was computer generated. I saw the actual car they were selling it on ebay and it had a normal carbed 350 in it.
Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
OK check out the following link... the Grand Sport Corvette engines were custom aluminum block 377's and the Weber side draft system (4-2bbls) look almost the same as this bumblebee engine except all natural metal, not any black or orange paint... copyrighted images so you'll have to go see it here... http://www.racingicons.com/gs/index.html

You know there's usually more than just one car right? Could be a couple cars for beauty shots (where the fancy engine may have resided), couple more for interior shooting, more for driving and of course trashing. That car they were selling on ebay could have just been one of the regular driving cars.
Re: Can someone tell me what Setup is on this engine?!?!?!!?
Thats impossible! camaros can stand up to anything! lol just kidding...no car can take a beating like that lol, the engine thing eludes me though, is there some gain to it or is it just somehting that seems cool?

No really? It was a 350, they all were. Read the following link:
All the '76 Camaros portraying Bumblebee were fitted with GM Performance Parts "350 H.O." 330-horsepower small-block V8s. With a modest 9.1:1 compression ratio, this iron-block/iron-head engine supplied adequate power for the production. (Photo by Randy Lorentzen/Planet R)"

Another quote from the article:
"Stored alongside other Transformers vehicles at a race shop in Valencia, California, are the two beater Bumblebees that survived the production in running condition. The third was fitted with a prop engine for a scene. (Photo by Randy Lorentzen/Planet R)"
