Stupid question....

Ok, I am going to install a vacuum gauge on my 91 Camaro, and I have a REALLY STUPID QUESTION!

What is involved in hooking this up? Just a hose from the TB to the gauge, and an electrically hot wire if I want it to light up after dark? Doesnt the car have a vacuum sending unit? (Speed density TBI....)

Part

Can I install one of these and then tap into the wire that goes from the vacuum sending unit to the computer?

Re: Stupid question....

The electrical signal from the MAP sensor isn't necessarily compatible with what the gauge expects.

Then would I be better off with a non electrical?

I have heard those are not drag race legal.

The only sending unit i found is $64 dollars, way out of my price range....

Re: Stupid question....

A mechanical gauge will probably be cheaper. There are no racing legality problems.

So this would suit my needs? Just plug a vacuum line into the back?

Your awesome, thanks for your help.

One last stupid question, I just take a vacuum line from the engine to the gauge?

Re: Stupid question....

Pretty much, the gauge probably comes with tubing, you'll just need to adapt it to a convenient vacuum source.
