desktop dyno
just got desktop dyno and was wondering if anyone had a few engines i could try out.
ive never used the program before, so im trying to get used to how it works.
seems like a fun program though, at least for wasting time

Re: desktop dyno
I've wasted no end of time on desktop dyno. I'm kind of thinking that it gives numbers a little on the optimistic side, but it seems to be good for comparing parts or finding a trend.

I have several files for DD 2000, but it won't let me attach them on here, if you get me your email I'll send you them, or you can download them here

it's non copyright matierial so it's legal, just cam grinds and head flow data.

Re: desktop dyno
Like 84Z28406 says, it is great for comparing parts. Get the cam specs from the vendor web sites. I think it was Super Chevy that had head flow data at their site. I crunched options a long time before I built the engine, then I had it dyno'ed. My DD numbers came out close to the actual dyno numbers. Read the manual about not selecting "roller cam" unless you have a race type solid roller, and things like that. You'll burn up a lot of time playing with options and end up with too many choices. If designing your next engine, you'll have to make some real world decisions on what you really want.

Re: desktop dyno
It seems to be pretty good for real world things too. If you put large tube open headers ok an otherwise stock engine you lose all your low end and only gain above 10,000 rpms.

Re: desktop dyno
You have to make sure they have the same file extension as the ones that came with your DD, and that the location you found is the one that DD actually uses and not just a temp folder.
Windows usually hides "known" file extensions. Click on 'Tools', then 'Folder Options', then in the second flap 'Show' you'll have to unhook 'Hide Known File Extensions'. Also click on 'Show Full Path' while you're there, so it's easier to know where you're looking.
