Spark plug equivalents

I'm putting together a motor and the heads are some RHS Pro Torker vortecs. The sheet that comes with them recommends using ZEX #82070-8 spark plugs for street/strip use. Does anyone know where I can find a chart that shows what is an equivalent to this plug or can I just run the Autolite 605's like I use in my GM vortecs? The ZEX plugs a bit pricey.

Re: Spark plug equivalents

Thanks. I think that first number you have in that list is the Champion equivalent to the Autolite 605.

Re: Spark plug equivalents

Hey Couch, what's the difference, if any, between a RS14YC6 and a RS14YC plug?

http://sparkplugs.com

is a great site to look up plug info, they have a cross reff and an application chart, showing all the vehicles a plug will fit.

Re: Spark plug equivalents

That's a great website but I still want to know the difference, if any, between a RS14YC6 and a RS14YC plug? The RS14YC comes pregapped at .045. I'm wondering what other differences there are since a guy at autozone sold me a set of RS14YC's and he couldn't tell me the difference and I'm curious if they'll work in the 1997 vortec motor I'm running now.

YC6 is extended tip, and YC is standard tip. They had fine wire options too if you want but those are all hotter plugs, I wouldn't use them in a performance app. Extednded gap plugs supposedly are more durable in that they don't foul as often, but if your compression ratio is pretty high sometimes you run into piston clearance issues. You should be fine either way.
