I also have the 5 speed withthe 373 rear end. i want to put a posi in there.. again what suggestions do you have.
Thanks

Well Holley was a given. I just did not know if I should change over the intake as well and what model "Size" Holley to drop on.

You can't put a squarebore Holley on a stock spreadbore manifold.

You also need to change the distributor at the same time.

Holley makes a 650 cfm that is a replacement for the quadrajet. Model #4175 has vac sec., with electric choke and is the stock replacement. Model #4165 has mechanical sec., and manual choke. Sold by Summit and others.

You are correct sir, those Holley's won't work on 84 305 because of computer controlled carb & Distributor. There is a Quadrajet that is remanufactored by Holley that is a replacement for his old stock one. It's pt#64-70087. Cost $400+. Sorry about the wrong info on the Holley's.

They'll work if you replace the distributor and you don't care about emissions legality. They're just not especially performance-oriented.

So, you had a bad experience with a q-jet in the past. What does that have to do with this one?

Only reason I'll echo Apeiron's recommendation is you have a T5. Get a Performer intake and a 600 Holley double pumper. And a vacuum/mechanical advance distributor, as mentioned.

Then $700 later, you'll know the q-jet isn't what's holding back performance with your 305.
