Will not start when engine is hot, mini starter fix?
Hi, long time reader first time poster. I heard that when a normal starter is used with headers and a wide body oil pan if the car is hard to start after running for a while and warmed up the engine is hard to turn over (like the battery is dead). I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and if a mini starter solved them. I have shorty headman headers and some kind of Jegs aftermarket wide oil pan (came with 350). The motor was rebuild to an 11.5:1 compression 355. I would like to know if anyone things a mini starter would fix the problems and any suggestions about one.
Thanks

I am having the same problem with a tci mini starter installed. So no it dont solve the issue. Wire a remote solenoid and get a heat shield to protect the starter motor anyway

I heard in these cars the starter is in a location where it will absorb heat and will give it trouble starting...I think they called it "heat soak." I have the same problem too. Had another firebird owner back in college who had the same issue...guy simply wrapped his started in heat wrap lol. Don't ask me how but he had no problems after that.
