I have a 91 Firebird, but the motor in it isn't the stock one and I have no idea what year, plus I had a converted LT1 intake put on. I know it was a 255 Walbro. A couple weekends ago it wouldn't start anymore, I'm assuming my fuel pump went out, hooked up a gauge to the valve on the rails and it read 0 pressure. My question, if I order another 255 Walbro, will it be a direct swap? I don't want to drop the tank, look at the part number, order it and wait, I'd like to order it now and install it ASA it comes in.

It will work just fine BUT have you checked the fuel pump relay ? Can you hear the pump at all ? Does it have power going to it ?

I put a BBK in mine and all I had to do was adjust some wires going it.

Yes, the pump will kick on, and there is fuel up at the shrader valve when I press the nipple.

Have you done the full fuel diagnostics (like checking the regulator ) to confirm it is actually a pump pressure problem ?

How did you decide fuel was the problem?
Did you check for both spark and fuel?

Pump only runs for 2 sec when key turned on then it turns off.
You need to jumper the pump relay so the pump runs full time BEFORE doing any pressure tests.

1st off your not stupid, stop putting yourself down. Everyone had to start somewhere. Vettoz will be along later and explain it. BUT meanwhile find the fuel pump relay and unplug it. Check which wire has voltage coming in and jump it to the wire going out thusly bypassing the relay, I don't know the exact wires but that is the theory. This wil llet fuel pump run while you do pressure test. One of the supreme boys will be along shortly!

OK, so I replaced the fuel pump and put gas in the tank and it starts up like a dream. I hooked up a FP gauge and when the key is turned, the pressure shoots up to like 80PSI then when started, it goes up to 100PSI and stays there.
