Car wont start, no crank

Car wont start, no crank
Today leaving school I went to my car and i tried to start it and it wouldn't. I heard the fuel pump prime the engine, but when i turned the key to start it, I didn't hear a click, and it didn't even crank. 20 minutes later I went back to try and jump start it and it started right up without having to do anything. Any idea of what could be wrong, or what to look for?

Start reading

If the pellet on your key is worn/dirty or the contacts in the Ign barrel that read the pellet are dirty / worn then what you got will happen.
Have to wait 5 min between tries for the system to reset
Every time you turn the key to the start position ,the timer resets to zero again
Carry a spare key to try when it happens ; you do have a spare key don't you ????? because if you don't you could be permanently stranded somewhere
