1987 Z28 Idle/Gas issue
Hello guys, im having an issue with my z28 in which it will start and idle for about 5-10 seconds then it stumbles and dies. While its idling if i press on the throttle it chokes and dies as soon as I do. I have changed the fuel filter and fuel pump, checked the tps and iac, and cant seem to notice any vacuum leaks. No codes are being thrown. Any ideas?

And if i spray starter fluid the car will idle for longer im guessing as is finished off the fuel. Im guessing this would rule it a fuel problem

Checked the plugs last night and they are badly fouled and black, might this cause the engine to stall and not hold an idle?

Wouldn't hurt to clean them or get new ones depending on how old they are. Even if it isn't the issue, it's definitely not going to hurt anything.

I haven't checked them as of yet, how would I go about checking them? Also I notice the oil pressure drops as the car stumbles and dies. Might the oil pressure sending unit cause such issue?

Re: 1987 Z28 Idle/Gas issue
As the car stumbles and dies, the RPM's are less which in turn causes it to lose oil pressure.
Normal.
Check for vacuum leaks. You mention IAC/TPS is fine, may have a vacuum leak, plug wires, timing issue, cap/rotor...

Re: 1987 Z28 Idle/Gas issue
Need to get a diagram for the vacuum lines. Did the plugs and wires, cap seems to be in fair condition. I will check the rotor, and the timing. What should the timing be set at?
