Would I lose??

My brothers newest ride (GSX-R 750). Ran 10.80 in the 1/4, at least that's what his friend said that sold it to him. I doubt I have a chance.

Well, I wouldn't race it Did you see that video that was a freeway race between a turbo firebird and a bike? It was pretty cool. I have it, but I don't know where the link to it online is.

This is what you do (and I do this when someone is being a wise *** with a bike) - tell him you will race from 150mph and he will back down. I realize its your brother, but if he's busting your chops, tell him that.

I had some idiot want to race me on a 900RR a couple of years ago - a high 10 second bike. I told him we would race (from 150) and I would embarass him (bike topped out at 167 or so) on the way to 175. He shut up real quick.

Race hime just to see how bad you get beat (from a dead stop).

Did you see the Hayabusa vs TT Vette video on the net - TT Vette races a modified Hayabusa from 60 to 170, they are dead even till 150 when the Vette pulled away (Aerodynamics).

Gave me a lumberyard in my shorts.

He's not given me ****.

He wrecked one bike years ago on a back road doin 120 at the time. Bike went loose in the rear and hit some gravel, he was all skinned up. Not sure how fast he was goin by the time he wrecked, but I doubt 120.

Race him from a stoplight. When the light turns yellow get out of the car and kick his bike over. Than quickly get back in your car and you should be able to take him off the line.

Ask to race just top end? And the bragging right for that is what?
I thought a race was from point A to point B.

What about when you are sitting at the light and it turns yellow, toss a milkshake at his visor. (jsut the milkshake not the cup!!) By the time he cleans it off you should be across the finish line!!

He feels similar, he said tonite, it's not the same as a car, as in having a fast car is better.

But he has an RS so he needs something fast.

Kinda funny too considering I grew up on and around motorcycles. I was riding a Yamaha less than 6 months after I learned how to ride a bicycle. My dad used to flat track a Yamaha and co-owned a dealership when I was a kid.

I still respect them, just think of bike racing the way I think of NOS. Just an easy way of winning races.

well it's just a different world,
its not supossed to really mix
guys who ride rockets really only mix with guys who ride other rockets.
Harley guys stick with other Harley guys
chevy with chevy, ford with ford
imports with other imports etc.....

I really don't see the NOS reference.
don't really think guys in rice rockets really get their rocks off racing cars.
it's more of the twists and the turns on the back roads and going fast. and you got to admit, a bike is the most bang for your buck.
$8K for a 10.5 1/4 mile???? can't beat that.
and harley guys its more the group rides, partying, rallys like Sturgis, Daytona etc...
different worlds, different hobbys.
I love my 3rd gen, but i love my bike even more
If i didn't have a bike I don't think I would be driving a 3rd gen. most likely it would be a 4th gen or some other fast domestic (is there any more out there these days?)
with the 3rd gen i see a cheap, fun, and fast car to drive and work on. and yet still afford the Harley.
just my 2c

I agree. Totally different worlds. Harley's rule, just never really been big into racing them. Like you said, Sturgis and cruising around...:hail:

biker ..that actually might not be a 89...

most of the 89's ive seen have dual headlamps

mark is that a katana??
i dont think a stock gsxr750 goes 10.80...

cheapesst way to go fast is on a bike...usually nothing on 4 wheels running around in town can beat ya...
how often do u see a TT supra or a TT vette tats modded enough to beat ya..

and usually does not take u 8G's to go 10's...u can find bikes cheaper than that to go 10's

running a 10.80 outta that bike is gonna take some real skills
since he is atleast 3 seconds faster than you...he doesnt have to try too hard to beat ya... and he can start going faster by doing very simple mods...

Bikes are definately the fastest things on the street. I highly respect them and the people who ride them but I would never ride one myself. Honeslty they scare me to death (too fast at too young of an age). Yes Mark, you would loose heheh

But on a side note, my co-worker at my old job bought a 96 GSXR 750 for $4500 (not stock) and he posted high 10's. Pretty crazy!!

If you flatten his tires before the race you might have a chance or maybe if there is noone on the bike . They are just too light weight, their whole bike weighs about what our engine does, then you have lots more weith in the car.

I'll find out what year it is.

It's not stock though. Different wheels that are lighter, some stuff in the rear has been taken off to lighten it.
And my brother said something about the sprocket being changed, not sure what else.

mark whats real funny is it has only one rotor in the
front for brakes...

most >600cc bikes ive seen have two in the front
its only the 500's like the gs500 that have one brake in
the front

the rims look like they are from a 1989 GS500E
one of my friends here owns one..

my bike weighs 470 pounds and puts out 104hp
usually most of the newer 600cc bikes weigh less than 400 pounds
the R6 is one of the lightest 600cc bikes ive driven so far

but either way even a gs500 will give any car a good run for the money

ok that is a 750...but its a GSX 750 (not an R)

mark im posting a picture of the same bike with graphics on

what really puzzles me is the front brakes..the caliper looks like its on the other side of the rim...it has 3 pipes comming down in the manifold ..so for sure its not a 2 cylinder...(GS500's are 2 cylinder) 600's and up are 4 inline..

most katana's have 2 rotors (atleast all the ones ive seen and ridden)

the picture im posting is a 93 GSX750 katana bad shape (not mine)

possible that he might have
1. jet kit
2. aftermarket pipe (exhaust)

GTA
the F4i is a better bike
the 929RR is just way too much ...power
F4i is also lighter...
i dont like the way the tank is on the CBR's (incl the 929RR)

thats why i went after a VFR
CBRs have 4 cyls inline
i have 4 cyls in a Vee plus my cams are gear driven...

GTA if u ever get a chance drive a VFr750 / VFR 800 i bet ull love the feel...

well this is a 2002 VFR800i with HONDA's VTEC ...

Hey mark you should have pretended you were that camaro_1986_19 guy and said LOOK AT MY NEW BIKE!! IT RUNS THE QUARTER MILE IN 9.20! I'M SO COOL, PLEASE BE MY FRIEND!

Just kidding. Cool bike though. Last time I was at the track I saw some lady riding one of those. She was running in the 11s and she did a wheelie and fell over! The track was closed for like an hour and she had to get picked up by an ambulance. I hope you're brother knows what he's doing.
