Is this teacher BSing?
Hes got an older what looks to be an escort. Looks like a 5.0 but has the 'longer' rear windows like the 2dr escorts. but hes periodically switches his embloms from 5.0, to the Cobra, to autozone Si R's...and has a USHRA decal on the gas lid.
looks like domestic rice, Sparco seats, chrome rims, red calibers.
my friend talked to him and said he weights in at about 21-2200 LBS and did a V-6 motor swap (says him and a bunch of buddys got it to fit with alot of grinding), 5sp, thats all i know
says he runs 10s at 130 mph, he never started the MPH til the end of the conversation but my friend repetavilly asked 1/4 or 1/8? he says 1/4 mile and he runs 10s at 130
My friend said he didn't believe him and wanted to be shown or see slips...and he goes i'll show you one day
OHH and he said hes not spraying, and that hes slow bc his friends are running 8's...
is it possible to be in the 8s and street legal?

He is probably lting, but yes it is possible to go 8s street legal (well without emissions). Look up a Mustang Racer named Lee Howie. He has a 1993 black LX with a 306 (not stroker) and a Precision Turbo. The car averaged an 8.99 with ET Streets after a 30 mile cruise, and no prep between rounds. The car in that state had gone 8.30 at 170 with slicks, and I have heard it has since gone in the 7s. The car isn't street friendly, but he does drive it on the street every once in a while! I am sure there are some Fbodies and such, but this is one street driven car that I know of! So yes it is possible!

It would take him about 375 hp to trap 130 in a 2200 lb car. Can you get some more specifics...ie. what kind of car it is, what kind of power adder he's running, etc.?

Jocww, what the heck are you talking, about these guys are talking about 8 sec. daily drivers and you come in with an 11 sec. car??? There are so many 11 sec. car's who cares, I would think that california would have a good amount of fast cars, so why post about an 11sec. car??

I have a feeling this is like that older post where the guy in the honda lost to a thirdgen and was like "WTF, I ran low 12's at the track?"
Then the guy figured out it was an 1/8th mile track.
If there is an escort running 10's @ 130 out there, I certainly havent heard of it.

A 10.00 1/8th mile would be somewhere in the high 15's.
Which would rule it out...I'd expect somewhere in high 50's/low 60's for a 10 second 1/8th mile car. You can usually expect to pick up ~20 mph over the last 1/8th mile, which would put him in the high 70/low 80 mph range in the 1/4. I think the guy is full of ****.

There's an AMX here in Vancouver that runs consistant high 8's with a hot AMC 390 with factory iron heads. You would never believe it til you saw it, the car isnt tubbed and he runs 9" slicks! This car has everything a street car has its amazing.

He's full of it. First off, it would have to be one tiny v6 to fit in it. Maybe an Essex 2.8 or 2.9 or whatever. I don't believe it, and won't, until I see it. Or at least one of us sees it.

8's street legal???OH MY YES
Lets just say a few cars can!!!!! FIERO with a 350 dumped in the back maybe squeeze in a SC and some Juice and your running about around there or FASTER either that or just restore a VEGA....endless combos...remember with the right amount of money ANYTHING can be fast....just not very safely

call his bluff His friends are in the 8s and he doesn't bother to get into the specifics? I don't believe it on a V6 Escort. What V6 would be capable of that? I don't think it'd be a ford.

I find more often that the dumber old guys will lie about stuff because they think we (younger guys) won't know any different. I had a guy tell me about a 7 second (1/4 mile) stock Charger!!! I just nodded and played along!

Oh my ***...That's the nicest thing I've ever heard Jocww say. And I think he's right in most cases. Although some people just go through there life with a "my car is ***" attitude.

I think it isn't too hard (I will get ragged on for this) to go 8s on an loder car and be somewhat street legal. An 8 second car doesn't need good street manners, just a lot of power! I know alot of 8 second cars that race in our Outlaw class, and the older ones can be considered street legal! With no emissions this boils down to what you can deal with on the street!
