85 TPI or IROC?
K guys i got a buddy with a 85 z-28 305 tpi automatic. the motors got about 40,000 on it. My car is a 89 IROC 305 tpi 5 speed with 68,000 original miles on the motor. Who would win in the 1/4? i heard the newer TPI's got a nice HP increase but was just wondering who would win

If you have the G92 option and can shift it fast enough you should be able to take him. It will be close though as the 85's had the 215hp and were pretty quick from the factory for a third gen.

Thats what i was thinkin, id have to be really fast on the shifting. do any of you guys know what was most common gears for 85? mine are 308s and the other guy doesnt know what hes got.

Not sure as well, but I think someoen had aftermarket gears in mine, they were 3.73 and it was quick off the line. I had the lb9, 85 Camaro iroc-z, z28 305tpi.
Replaced the rear with some non posi 9 bolt after the yoke gave out kiling my gears. Slow off the line now.

My buddy had a 90 Roc with the LB9 and T5 in it and beat me every time when both of us were stock(I'm an 85 IRoc TPI)always close where he would just get me..after I put headers and a catback with the TB walls grinded(not much help I know)I didn't lose anymore to him...bastard went and got an LT1 and beat me so I bought an LS1 and returned the favor
