Voodoo cam in 305 tpi

Im looking to do a cam, heads, intake swap on my 86 iroc z.
I was thinking of using
world sr torquer 305 heads
edelbrock hi flo tpi system
Voodoo 60103 cam kit

Has anyone ever used this cam in a 305 tpi and what were the results
Im looking for a cam with a nice lopey idle but with usable power.

Re: Voodoo cam in 305 tpi

If it were me, I wouldn't buy heads for a 305. I'm ok with buying bolt ons/cam etc. for a 305, but that can all be transferred over to a nice 355 which I am currently doing right now.

I am pretty much maxed out on the 305's potential without taking it to the next level and buying heads, etc. My new setup involves a 355, which money on heads would be better spent.

I purchase a Crane 2032 cam for my 305, but I decided to just wait and put it in the 355 instead of spending the time/money to put it in the 305 first. Good all around cam that I think will work great with the TPI intake, as do others on this board.

My advice is to do all the major bolt on's (exhaust, RR's, intake mods, etc.) and then step it up to a 350.

Re: Voodoo cam in 305 tpi

I know that most people are going to say get a 350 but i already have a 383 in my 69 camaro so i want to stick with the 305 cause its in good conditon and is original. Im not looking to make crazy power just around 300 at the flywheel . Do u guys think that this combo will make that kind of power and is it a good match.

ahh makes sense...you want a toy thats tame to drive w/o big issues and such. One member on here i know personally ran a LB9 that had a summit 1103 cam in it and supporting mod's(intake matched runners and such/headers)

pretty fun car and got really good gas mileage

Re: Voodoo cam in 305 tpi

I heard they are pretty good, I just bought one for my 305. I am currently upgrading from a carbed 305 to tpi, vette heads, and the voodoo cam. A lot people give me flak about this, but the 305 has less than 1k miles on it so its stupid to get rid of it. And i figure, i have the heads just laying around why not use them.

good luck with your project!

Re: Voodoo cam in 305 tpi

If thats a flat tappet cam, get a summit cam. They are cheap and good. I had a 305 with nothing more than a summit cam 204/214 duration @.050 and a 750 edelbrock and it flat out got it! Back in the day, they used to advertize this as a tpi cam, think its a pn 1102 or 3 this is all from memory, look into it you'll like this cam.
