Alright, I have a tpi setup that I'm swapping out for my tbi and I'm going to put a new cam 224/234with new springs and valve spring kit, stock heads. Now I want to purchase a set of 1.6 RR's. I already have headers straight pipped flowmaster setup with a t-5 manual transmission. How much horespower do you guys think I can push out. Another thing what other parts can I actually use to do my convertion from my tbi setup, will I need new fuel lines throttle cable etc.. please help
Im thinking of doind atpi swap, but have never done a swap in a 3rd gen. Any info on what is required would be great . Id really like to know how complex it is
He is located at OC you could go personaly i also was wanting to do this swap and he told me to take my car and he would of giving me an estimate but my car is not running right now. Do you already have the tpi or not i seen many people sell them right here
Yeah, I got the TPI setup with the wiring harness, ECM, intake manifold and the MAF. What I'm wondering is if I need to replace the throttle cable and the fuel lines.

Yea your gonna need some for a tpi because they are different lentghs
i had a tbi motor converted to carb and now i want to to go tpi what all do i need can anybody tell me what i need and is it worth it
From what i heard you either need a wiring harness for your year of the car or repin your tbi harness for a tpi, the tpi system, ecm, custom ship and the sensors, also a fuel pump, and few other things. It is worth it depending on for what you want it for a dd i say it is because of the torque it gives and gives better mpg than carb and tbi, thats what i think but everybody thinks different.
yeah but he wants me to go in and see him, I just need guidance on how to install it myself. I kinda feel that he wants to do the conversion. It's just something I want put together on my own but just wanted to see if anyone has ever done this conversion and maybe just give some tips. I mean it shouldn't be hard to do but I just want to hear it from other people that have done it to see if I'm OK so I can feel confident on what I'm doing. I got all the parts it's a MAF TPI setup intake bolts right up got the runners, plenum, wiring harness, throttle body, ECM, injectors, new fuel pump, intake manifold, new cam, lifters and about to get my rockers but I might just pull the engine out so I can do a overhaul with forged pistons and new oil pump that way I wont have any problems after I slap the TPI setup. Another thing I want to get is all the TPI parts port and polished IDK just looking for suggestions and on what to do and to see if anyone has done this convertion just to see if im ok.
I seeing them all together but they are asking over $300 and i bought my L98 for $400 with the tpi all complete and all it needed was the valve cover gasket

do you have the right PROM? fuel lines? and your gonna need a new throttle cable. do a search or look in the engine swap thread.
Both the throttle cable and the kick down cable will need to be replaced the tbi ones are too short. The fuel lines from the tank won't need to be replaced but make sure you get the flex lines that connect to the fuel rail.
You will need to change the fuel pump as well.

what is it that your missing on your setup, looks clean and where did you get that work done and for how much?
I aint missing nothing but its that i can't put the tpi that i have because its a MAF and i want Speed Density for my car, as of how it looks i did that myself just search plenum polish and it tells you exactly what i did but it does take a long time i just went through it fast if i would have taken my time it would of come out better.
so nobody has a step by step on how to install the TPI system? damn that sucks Ima get this complete and post it up for other peoples future reference.

You really don't need a step-by-step. Once you have your heads done it just a reverse of doing a short block for the TPI.
The manual for the donor model will have the instructions, but if you really need some guidance visit this site http://www.chevythunder.com/
I would suggest removing the engine so you can do a clean install of all the changes required such as harness, fuel lines etc. You'll also need the dual fan setup. I also suggest installing the TPI harness instead of repining. Do the engine on a stand and install when completed with the tranny attached. Remember these are just suggestions

You said stock heads - TPI, or the TBI heads?
thanks Rgarcia and as far as the engine being pulled out, I am going to do that I also geting a forged piston rebuilt kit along with a mild cam( 224/234 )I've got to go with it. I also got a valve train kit with that already but I will need some new RR.
Casting #14102187 is 305HO, 87-91, 1.85-1.5, 58cc, 7 bolt ex.
From the TGO home page Camaro Tech data, the highest rating for 87-91 LB9(TPI) is 230hp that's for the 91'. I think I read somewhere that the engines were under rated, but it's flywheel HP/TQ.
My HP goal for my 388 TPI was 1, or more HP per CI. I haven't dynoed it yet so I don't know.
