tranny removal..help

tranny removal..help
i have a t 5 borgwarner on my 87 berlinetta and im trying to get that damn tranny out. all the bolts are out but it just wont yank out that stupid bell housing....the tranny is supported by a jack for now, im stuck...its my first time doing a tranny job and have no idea of what to do next...please help....suggestions are greatly appreciated.

There's no dowel pins on a T-5...
There are 4 bolts that hold it to the bell housing. Make sure you took out 4.
That's all that holds it in. Once they're removed, the trans should practically fall out.

make sure your car is on jackstands
now lay underneath the T5
(its only about 80 pounds)
and "bench press" it out
thats the easiest way to do it
thats how i did it in my own driveway

I just pulled mine and the only hard part was getting the 4 bolts loose.. i put an old matress under the car and like they said just had to support the weight of the trans by pushing up on it from underneath and then pushing back to let it out. then layed it on the mattres slid it out and started on the bellhousing. which was also a pain to get the bolts loose. the real trick is getting the trans back in. you have to make sure you guide it in straight, so if you only have the front end jacked up as I did it makes it a little harder to judge the angle. good luck..

ya guys that damn tranny wont just come out...i think that thing is binded up. what does it mean when its binded up....and what can i do to get that thing out.....this is very frustrating...please help...thanks much.

one ball peen hammer
two jack stands ( one on bell housing and one on trans)
One thin head screw driver ( put between bell and trans)
Three anger management classes

Axle/Gears: 10 Bolt 3.73
This might sound stupid, but have you unbolted the shifter yet?
It ain't gonna move much with it in.Other than that it should come out pretty easily. The only time I had trouble (I've done my clutch 11 times) was when the throwout bearing was seized onto the input shaft bearing retainer.That time it required a little "beating on" to get it out.

Good point. Make sure everything is unbolted.. this includes shifter, driveshaft, torque arm. cluch cable, connecter to catalytic converter, trans crossmember, and I think thats it. let me know what exactly its doing and I'll try to help more.

the tranny might be corroded in the bell housing.
or you might have it jacked up too high and the shifter mountiing housing is getting stuck in the cutout inthe tranny tunnel.
when removing the tranny just let it hang off the motor. you might be binding it by jacking it up.

Have you gotten it out without any troubles? let us know. getting it back in is a little harder than out. Just make sure you line the trans up straight with the engine.. good luck.

well i got that tranny out and put in the new clutch assembly. but i cant get it in gear?? what do you guys think.. would it be my hydraulic clutch system??...i dont know..........it might not be pushing my fork in enough to dis engage that new clutch.....pleas help ....ideas are greatly appreciated...thanks.
