new gears and rear

alright here is what im plannin on..

zexel torsen lsd- from slponline.com
motive 3:73 gears(i have 3:23's presently)- thunderracing.com or somehwere
disc brakes from old z28 or something- junkyard
new speedo gears- slponline maybe
install kit for new gears- somewhere

now a few questions...
1) do i have a electric or cable driven speedometer? (92 3.1 RS)
2) what is the most basic install kit that i need (cheapest too) and where can i get it?
3) what else do i need for disc brakes install? i heard something about a longer ebrake cable or somethin i think.
4) what kind of price should i pay for disc brakes only?
5) anyything else i need?
6) how do i go about readjusting shift points so i can get the full gain out of it?

ok, so maybe that was more than "a few" questions

edit: i already found the equation from omar for calculating speedo gears, so i dont need any help on that

Electric

Get the Ratech kit from Summit. Don't get the "basic", get the one with bearings
3) what else do i need for disc brakes install? i heard something about a longer ebrake cable or somethin i think.
Disc brakes used different cables. There are three total on the car, you only need the rear two. You'll have to look them up for whatever car you rob the brakes from
4) what kind of price should i pay for disc brakes only?
Hard to say, some people rob you blind, others practically give them away. If your going to buy used, shop for '89 or later aluminum PBR calipers
5) anyything else i need?
Thats a loaded question, you won't know untill something breaks... You might need a prop valve to accomodate the disc brakes. Some say you do, some say you don't. Because there is a different one listed for disc then drum, I replaced mine.
6) how do i go about readjusting shift points so i can get the full gain out of it?
If the shift points are not where you want them after the gear swap, you can get a Governer calibration kit. Its an assortment of secondary weights and springs that will adjust your WOT shift points. If you can't find one, let me know, I have a few Superior kits laying around

for 86transam..heres the link for speedo equation https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...r+change+gears

will this work for adjusting shift points? http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...87&prmenbr=361

if i buy disc brakes, does the prop valve come on z28's and stuff?

and is the ratech kit with bearings really recommended? im asking because im on a real tight budget

If you want to put all that stuff in, and try and re-use old bearings, then you may as well put all the parts in a box and wait untill you can afford the bearings. Thats like building a band new engine and using old piston rings.

The governer re-cal kit is the same one I use, but is sold by Superior (probably manufactured by the same company).

Whatever car you get the brakes off of, get the prop valve as well.

Since you have a V6, and is worried about cost, I would say forget it. Use the stock one.

The tranny shifts at a given rpm, regardless of rear-end ratio(your shifts will be at the same rpm, which is probably what you want). Wait on the re-calibration kit until you are sure they aren't correct. You will run slower if you shift past your engines rpm 'power band'. 3.73's will wake up that v6--have fun.
