clutch replaced, new problem...
1991 camaro/305v8: ok, i was driving from pensacola fl to charleston sc and on the way my clutch took a ****. i replaced all the hydrolic clutch parts and that turned out not to be the problem, the cluth actually broke where one of the 5 springs is held in, so i replaced all the clutch parts, everything except for the pilot bearing (the car was in a gas station parking lot in the middle of nowhere, so tools and what not were limited and i had no way to get the old bearing out)... the bearing was worn but i had no other choice. so i put the car back together and it now shifts very very smooth EXCEPT for 3rd gear.... every time i shift into 3rd it sounds like it grinds for a second before going into gear... it's no harder to put into gear, but the sound worries me.... my tranny taking a **** now too?? thanks!

Sounds like what my T-5 did when it was cold tell it finally blew. You might want to look into getting a rebuild if you plan on staying with you T-5.

ok, more info on the problem.... it makes the weird grating sound for only a second when going into 3rd gear from any other gear, ie 2nd gear, neutral, then into 3rd... but if i go out of 3rd to neutral, then back into 3rd, it won't make the noise. also, with the car shut down and not moving, i can shift into 3rd gear no problem, no noise, smooth as silk. i heard maybe i need to flush my tranny fluid, could this be the issue?? also, if i do need to rebuild my tranny, i could just replace 3rd gear and it wouldn't be too difficult? thanks a ton!

Synchro... the rebuild kit doesnt cost much. I think I paid around 170-200.
