after fixing my exhaust gaskets earlier i was drivin around, happy that ticking was gone when i noticed alot of smoke from my car. i thought it was just the gaskets. when i got home it was comming out the exhaust. then it stopped and it was comming off the back of th engine witch is when i saw TRANSMISSION FLUID EVERYWARE! it was all along the bottom of my car to the rear!! ive gotta shift kit, could i have blown a line? also for about 3 weeks that i had the car my kickdown cable was not adjusted right. the dumb *** that had it before me had it like that. i think he was a really sloppy mechanic...he might have had it like that for a wile....so..am i screwed! i have yet 2 get under it. please, if u can help in anyway let me know!!

i just looked at it...i think it might be on the top of the trans. are there lines up there?? thats where isaw smoke. also out the exhaust???? that smoke left fluid all over the back of my car. please guys i neeed help....i washed it all off btw so it doesnt eat my paint...i dunno what to do with this. i dont wanna pay someone else to do it when im a mechanic myself but this is over me. i dont get it at all...

Are the lines to your trans cooler in the radiator cracked? You need to calm down and look things over carefully, and then describe exactly where your tans is leaking.

im calm. ive got no idea where its comming from. from what i can see...its near the front of the trans. like i said, i did do the exhaust gasket on the drivers side cuz it was leaking. i didnt see where i knocked anything off. i know the lines are on the sides? i dont know to much about these. also, my dipstick was dry and smelled burnt.......yeah...im guess cuz all of my fluid is out. i went over my trail i didnt see anything. it looks like most of the fluid is all over the catalitic converter. over on that side. im guessing the reason its everyware is because it hit the drive shaft and it flung everyware. during all this, even after i found out what happened. it shifted absolutely fine. so maybe the trans is ok but ive gotta hose off????

Sounds like you knocked the dipstick tube out of the trans case.

hmm..ill look at that...i only worked on the driver side header gasket though. cuz that was the one leaking. i was gonna do one then the other...is it possible i hit that? does it loop around to around there? thanx man

If you get the car up on stands so you can get under it, you'll be able to start it up (after refilling the trans w/ ATF) and pinpoint the source of the leak.

So...step away from the keyboard and go do the nasty.

lol, alright, that kinda happened..i had to go somewhere earlier and my dad checked it out wile i was out. he filled it up, no leaks...drove it, no leaks...hes guessing it got hot and over flowed?? is there some kind blow off valve if it over heats?? were kinda stumped cuz hes an old hot rod guy, used 2 build em when i was little so he doesnt know much about the new stuff..im as clueless as him because i dont like messing with transmissions. but...im gonna do some of my own investigating tomorrow

if the trans was overfilled when it reaches norm temp the fluid expands and will come out any where it can....dip stick,vent tube etc. pay close attention to the dip stick instructions

i never put any in it..it was fine. but...found out what happened 2 night when i got 2 REALLY look at it. housing is cracked! sucks man...but...i know how it happened. my tv cable wasnt adjusted right for a few weeks after i got it. i thought i fixed it in time. guesss not. shift kit+un adjusted shift cable= cracked trans. but...im getting a new one. a rebuilt one for a 350. its only 200 bucks. the kid got a 5 sp after he got the one rebuilt. so....he put in the 5 sp and never used the rebuilt one. he needs it gone. were putting it in this weekend.

keep in mind..this wasnt my faught. man u should see the crap ive been cleaning up after the past owner. im redoing the interior in it because he spray painted EVERYTHING black. spray paint. not plastic paint. so my carpet, plastic parts...doors..there all black and peeling. or faded. so...yeah man...im a little pissed off about this in a way. but i paid 1800 for it. so..meh, i cant beat a 200 dollar trans. gotta love ur friends!
