Re: QUICK QUESTION reply plz
spinnin by hand it should spin both if its limited slip. unless the limited slip clutches are wore out then it'll act as an open rear end. if thats the case and it is a limited slip it should still have some amount of resistance to it.

Re: QUICK QUESTION reply plz
With a limited slip, if you spin one wheel the other wheel will spin the other way, you are correct. When you spin the driveshaft, both will spin in the same direction.

Re: QUICK QUESTION reply plz
With a limited slip both tires will turn in the same direction. With the open end rear they will turn in oposite directions. You could also tell if you just jack up one wheel an put trans in N, if you can turn the wheel that is jacked up it's open end.

Re: QUICK QUESTION reply plz
If the transmission is in park and you spin one wheel, the other wheel will spin the OPPOSITE direction. If it's in neutral it will spin in the same.

any posi/limited slip i ever seen has been both in same direction. I got a locker style rear end in my chevy colorado, it'll spin oposite directions as an OPEN rear diff until 100 rpm difference in tire speed then lock in

Re: QUICK QUESTION reply plz
If you think about it, it's quite easy to see why they spin in opposite directions if the trans is in park. With the ring and pinion locked together, the only things to move are the spider gears and the clutches. I made a picture to help see why this happens. The arrow in red is the direction you are spinning the wheel with your hand, blue arrows are secondary movement based on this and the green arrow is the ouput. REMEMBER, this is based on the transmission in park so the ring and pinion arent moving. If the transmission isnt in park, it allows the ring and pinion to move freely so the clutches take over and the spider gears dont move freely, they move with the carrier and follow the carriers directions of rotation
