I would guess around $500 at least with an increase if you have disc brakes on the rear. Are you planning on buying the gears, if not then add the price of gears and you'll also need an installation kit which is around $100. I just had gears installed by a local guy that my brother knows, only charged me $150, so you're best bet would be to find another place than a shop.

Guys, Guys!! No way! Go to your local automotive machine shop or performance engine shop and ask who the local shadetree gear man is. Installs should never run more than $100- $200.

Just had mine done. $225 for gears $100 install kit and $200 labor. Figure $500 to $700 for total job and parts.

A few years ago I had my 3.23's swapped out for 3.73's and had a take out posi from a 4th gen put in at the same time. Bought all the parts and paid $100 labor. He called in about 2 hours said he was done. That was after he took it out for a test to see if he could hear any whine.
Try to find a mech who specializes in doing gears. The guy that did mine does gears for everyone at a local race track.

I gave my guy a case of beer and $125 to install my gears. I originally planned to install them but I didn't have the knowledge to set them up completely so I had him install them and I bolted the rear back on.
