so when i build the motor for my car down the road I was wondering what is the most you can do to a v6 automatic? and what would be the highest hp you could put through it?

or is there a stronger v6 auto tranny that I could build up?

The V6 and V8 autos are the same. The V6 may have fewer clutches and different valvebody programming, but if you do a performance build you change all of that anyway. I highly recommend a rebuilt kit from Pro-Built, a TransGo shift kit, and Corvette servos. A trans built with those parts is good up to 575HP.

ok thank you, would a tranny shop be able to buy the kit and put it in for me, or would I need to buy it? I am only 16 don't know much about trannys yet so it would just be easier to have the shop do it.

I would find a trans shop that will work with you. If I were you I'd buy the kit from Pro-Built with the other parts and give them to the trans shop. You need to find one that is willing to work on this type of project though, as this will not be a wham slam rebuild like a lot of trans shops are used to. Speak with Dana at ProBuilt and get his clearances for various assemblies that are different than stock so you can relay that info to the trans shop. Or, you could send your trans to him and have him do the rebuild. He's in California, which is at least on the same side of the country as Oregon. I had to do the rebuild myself with his input, because it was just too costly to ship a trans to California and back to Delaware. That being said the trans came out fine and works flawlessly (my first auto at the time too).

Yup, that's it. I installed the new GM Reverse/Input drum too. It's the better part out of the 4L60E. Otherwise that's everything you need.

that kit would work in a v8 700r4 to sense you said the v8 v6 autos are the same?

I might be putting a v8 in it's on the cheaper side for motors.

Yeah, the guts that have to be reused are the same. A V6 trans may have fewer clutches in it in certain spots, but all that will be addressed with the installation of the ProBuilt kit, as those are parts that will be replaced anyway.
