10 bolt pbr calipers on a 9 bolt?
I have a 1989 or 1990 10 bolt in my 1986 camaro right now, but i need to replace it. i found a 1984 9 bolt for a decent price but it doesn't come with brakes. can i swap the aluminum PBR calipers on to the 9 bolt?
thank's in advance for your replies!

Only if you can find 9 bolt PBR disc backing plates which were only available in 1989.

No such thing as a 84 9-bolt.
The 9-bolt first appeared in certain 85 Firebirds.
Which is NOT the same as saying, a 9-bolt that happens to be in a 84 car ATM; since anybody can jam any 3rd gen rear under any 3rd gen car, regardless of year.
OTOH, if you haven't seen it, and all you're doing is quoting a CL ad or some such as it sounds like, don't get your hopes up too high; you might get there and find yourself looking at an actual 84 rear, which would be a 10-bolt, with one of the cover bolts missing. Don't weep, it's happened before. Will probably happen again.
Moral of the story is, look before you leap.

Eric, if you or anyone else has the opportunity (or could provide the info), would you measure the rear from the outside of one end of housing to the other? I'd like to know the width of a thirdgen rear.
Many thanks,

good point about the production years sofa, i had wondered about that. I have seen pics of it and it is a 9 bolt, but i don't have any numbers off it.
James, i will measure and let you know, but it will probably be a week or so.
