missed third gear racing
here is the aftermath! transmission is ok, but busted the pressure plate and three of the bolts to it. scraped up the inside of my belhousing a little also but didnt do any damage to it. guess I was kinda lucky that this is all that did happen.

not for sure because its not like i stuck it into the wrong gear, i just didnt get it into gear before i dropped the clutch. I have heard about the pressure plate over extending but have never had anything like this happen before. I got it back together and drove it to work today and im pretty sure it damaged my clutch fork also because now i lost a third of my pedal travel. have to drive it for another week or so while my mother in law has my other car
also the clutch plate looks perfect, not a mark on it. replaced it all to be safe

Re: missed third gear racing
I missed third in my Chevelle at high RPMs. I was also lucky. Fly wheel and clutch stayed together but I split the case on the Muncie. Could not get it home until the next day and over night the wheels and tires were taken. It sure was hard to replace all of that on an
E-3 paycheck.
This was back in the day as a rebuilt transmission was $125 and my broken one.
