I did a search and.....
I really could not find anyone who has lowered their V6 car, so I came back to the pepole who know about V6 cars. I would like to drop my car as much as possible without any tire rub now or ever. So suggestions? I am planning running stock tire and wheels for this 1989 RS. Thanks

Lots of people will tell you that if you start lowering your car, you will need adjustable control arms to correct the alignment. While this is true and definitely a good idea if you are lowering it considerably, if you go with the "stock" replacement lowering springs that offer 1-1.5" drop, it's not absolutely necessary unless you're planning on driving it off the street, in my opinion.
Check out this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=267129
I have Suspension Techniques springs with a 1" drop in the front with Tokico struts. If I ever get around to it, I will also put in the 1" drop springs in the back with the Tokico shocks. I also replaced the control arms with V8 control arms that have a short steering stop and I believe are a little beefier. I ride with stock wheels/tires and don't have any rubbing problems.
If you are planning on doing a larger drop, good luck with that.

if you want my honest opinion, unless its a show car leave it stock height. my car has a 1.5" drop and i hate it, i've gotten used to it but that extra inch would really help me

oh i never said it didn't look better, or help cornering, but when you have the big speed bumps we do here in the lower mainland, it starts to get to you when you can barely clear them

Hmmm, that reminds of the fact that I installed the cat incorrectly and it hangs too low... so I do bottom out every now and then.

I started cutting my coils so that I could find a height and look I like. I started with approx 1" drop. Still did fine over bumps, but I wanted lower look.
Its now a little over 2". Its a rough ride, bottom out, scrape, but looks good.
I think I'm going to get the 1.75 springs and deal with it. I'd like to get the iroc control arms with steer stop, but it depends on funds.

Personally, I got a set of Dropzones for $99 on Ebay, and LOVE them. Nice and stiff, with a 1" drop

I barely clear speed bumps around here at stock height, if I don't go over at an angle I'll scrape with just me in the car.

hey camaro junkie, where did you purchase your stuff and did you get a good deal? It's time for me to do suspension rebuild but I don't want it lowered (i have enough trouble getting out of the car; too tall) and was wondering whether to get new springs or just reuse the old ones.

First off, if you are rebuilding the suspension, buy new springs. The Moog springs are stock replacements. If the springs in your car are original, they are toast. You'll frequently bottom out your suspension with those old things.
I got all my parts from Lordco, but I got my brother's employee discount. So I couldn't really say where to go for a good deal. Lordco's a little pricey if you don't have a discount.
