2.8 to 3.1

i was wondering what all i would have to change from a 85' 2.8 to a 92' 3.1(wiring harness, ecm, or anything). or if it would just swap right in.

Although this is an "engine swap", technically, those who frequent this forum don't tend to specialize in V6's.

At the risk that you've already posted there, I'll move this from "Swap" to "V6".

You can build a 3.1L from a 2.8L block.

Remove 2.8 rotating assembly.
Insert 3.1 rotating assembly.

Enjoy the 'stroker' motor

In the end, it comes down to this
Remove original vehicle engine
Put the two engines side by side.
Strip down, each engine or compare what is "the same".
Redress new donor engine
Slip back into original vehicle engine bay.
"Done".
Up grade injectors, by replacing into the "correct fitting" original design fuel rail.
In the end, the finished product should look exactly like what ya started with. Serious, that's the way to do this project.
No true engineering incvolved. Simple mix of the best parts reinsert new donor engine.
