.. I got leaks in my dash... Pag oil leaks.... Heres the pics to show ya. i also posted this in the west cost forums, but i like to get as many people to look at this problem as i can


first the panel under the dash that hides the computer and such...




the the black box as i call it (the heater/blower moter area???) two pics here.







what exactly is in that black box area? Im tending to think this will be an expensive repair... anybody got anyideas on what could have happened for me to get the oil leakin like that? And No im not just gonna do a/c delete its 2 dang hot where i lvl not to have a/c during the summer

looks like your heater core is leaking or something. not 100% sure but i know that looks like antifreeze.

Yeah. Hard to tell from a picture, the dye in the a/c oil looks green like antifreeze. Easy to tell the difference in person though, since a/c oil is oily and antifreeze is watery, also smells different. He's there and we're not, so I'm saying he knows what he's talking about.
Any number of reasons for it to be leaking. From old age to not using a backup wrench when tightening the fittings to the evaporator, not vacuuming the system long enough will leave moisture in the lines and cause corrosion and eventually leaks, etc,etc,....
If the leak is just inside the car and not in the engine compartment, you will need a new a/c evaporator. You could try a sealant, but IMO that is just a temporary fix, the leak will come back. Better to get it fixed right, before you need a new compressor too, the oil circulates with the refrigerant, so eventually all of it will leak out.

its deffentaly A/c Oil, or i would have my hole carpet soaked with antifreze.. this stuff doesnt like to run much which i guess is a good, thing, im gonna dissassble my dash so that i can get to that area starting in semptember, to hot right now to work on the other then in the engine compartment.. would i bealbe to replace the evaporator from the engine compartment?

Yes. The fan is blowing the oil into the car. The evporator core is inside the box with the fan in the engine compartment. Not sure what all needs to be removed to get at it, I've never replaced one on our cars.

It looks like you should be able to take the top section of the box off and run the a/c to see exactly where it is leaking.

the engien compartment box is basically 3 peices, upper half (key) , bottom half, & blower motor. It's just a pain (well for me it was) to get all teh bolts out & separate the two halves w/o crushing the THIN fiberglass/plastic it's made out of.

i might just pull the hole dash more work but seems eaiser in the long run besides it will allow me to put new carpet and such in my interior as well
