track opens this weekend : first and last runs on stock turbo 3.1
this wekeend my local track opens,im gonna take out the rs and run it at 10-12 psi to see just how well the bone stock 3.1 performs under boost.
and when i say stock i mean this is a bone stock 100,000 mile motor.
so this will give u guys that are wantng to just add a simple turbo setup to ur stock motors will know about what it should do.
depending on how well the motor runs, have a minor ignition problem that needs to be sorted out, i may finnaly attempt to run the nitrous (35/50 shot) as well
the only things not stock would be the ported manifold, trans/4k stall converter and the 4:10 rear gears, and an open downpipe
should be looking for mid 13's to low 14's or atleast it feels like it,but its been so long since the good motor was in the car it may just feel that fast lol

Dave, let me know what day your headed over there, as I'll more than likely swing by to check it out. Also, I can video it for those who want to see the runs (unless your planning on recording it already)....? Let me know.

just got some bad news,"the car is on its way home on the back of a tow truck"< gf calls me up and tells me.
well she was comming up the highway when the car started to run ruff it was low on gas so she pulled into the gas station got some.after ppulling back out on the highway and driving for a mile or so the check engine light poped on and the car just died it will not restart.soon as the car gets here im gonna go pull the codes and see whats up.
lol if im lucky whatever was wrong with the iginition system finally broke and ill be able to get the car fixed in time for tom.
streetlethal if i go its gonna be on saturday for the domestic vs import street wars ( gota try to sneak threw tech without the firejacket lol)
but yeah it would deff be cool if ya could come out and get some video of the car.i only have 2 things to take vids with and they bothsuck( cellphone - shitty res and crappy sound) and my digi cam - halfway decent res but no sound of zoom)

Good deal. At first I thought that when the tank went dry, it might have picked something up, clogging up the system. Glad to hear that you got her running again....
LMAO @ sneaking through tech...
I have an old VHS recorder, and although it's a tad out-dated, it films well, zooms in from a very good distance, and records sound excellently. Two hour limit per battery, so I'll bring a back up (wanna get some other races on tape, too)...

Guys, I'm making some passes tomorrow night over @ Englishtown (weather permitting), but Dave told me that he won't be able to run until next Wednesday though. If you would like, I could prolly meet up with Dave over the weekend, take some vids of his car messing around on the street (maybe even get some street races recorded). If anyone is wiling to host the footage for all to see, I'll gladly mail the results on film. Lemme know if your down Dave...

Axle/Gears: stock, dynomax turbo exhaust
track day
Hey Dave you have us here waiting, anticipating for that 3.1. to show us what it can do. With a stock engine too, thats very cool, if you do better then expected you won't go up on your turbo kit will you? Imagine if you rebuild your engine, that car will be even faster. Those engines are really durable I have a 92 3.1 and I havn't really had any engine problems besides the common things. Like someone before said, "this is better then waiting for Christmas"

I was in his car last Saturday when e-town was hosting "street wars". It felt like a mid-to-low thirteen second car, with moderate boost and timing. Plus, we were in the back, and Dave couldn't really let loose on her the way that he really wanted to. If we get together this weekend, you guys will have more footage than you can handle....
yeah just talked witht he gf sunday is looking pretty good,is the track open sunday?? i forgot to grab a schedual while i was at street wars lol

Dave, Sunday is looking pretty good. My buddy with his '07 Mitsunishi Eclipse GT is willing to run you, either at the track, or on the street. Last time he ran, he was a low fourteen second car (with a terrible 60 foot), so it should be a pretty good match up, cuz he's since gotten much better at launching...

Definitely tomorrow. Your Camaro will more than likely rape his Eclipse, but it's cool though. It's all in fun. We're headed to Englishtown today to watch the 'vette doctors' run, hoping to get there by 1:00pm. Nothing like watching street legal vette's running in the EIGHTS!!!!!

^ I remember the first time I saw his set-up last year, I was very very impressed with it. It should easily rape my buddies '07 Eclipse-GT....
Dave, today's going to be an excellent day for this. Just got back from getting the newspaper, and it's already pretty warm out....

LOL, it's on, but it's still charging. I'm trying to wake Tony's @ss up, but he's out like a freaking light. I might have to take a quick ride to his house to wake him up (he's over in Middlesex Township)....
If I can't get him up, I'll just buy a few streaming camera's over at CVS. What are they like ten minutes each? I'll buy like ten of them, then have them converted over to DVD for you to host after we're finished...

^ F*&^ that LMAO, I'm only buying one camera bro. I just got off of the phone with CVS, thirty dollars for twenty minutes worth of video, then another ten dollars to convert it to DVD. Don't get me wrong, it's not the money.... but forty freaking dollars for "twenty" minutes LMAO? I can get four hours worth with my old VHS camera, for the price of a blank tape, then convert it to DVD myself LOL....!
Anyways, twenty minutes should be more than enough, no...?

Go get em
We will see what happens, I'm pretty sure you'll beat that eclipse, can't wait to see the video though, everyone around here laughs at my little 3.1 (they have vette's and a 1996 Impala SS) those cars are crazy, but then there are the little ricers around here and mustang gt's, I know I won't be about to beat many of them, but I want to see them laugh when I come through in a 3.1 v6 turbocharged third gen bird, the ricers might be in trouble but the SS and the higher cars of course not, but I'll be running with the big boys thats for sure. No one here on my block thinks that an intake can be put into the 3.1 and I just went to buy the materials to make a custom one, and I know for sure they think its impossible to put a turbo into this "weenie engine" thats what they say when I refer to my 3.1, messed up but I would never get rid of this car, the styling is great and with more power it could be a dream car once painted and rims and all that stuff. Well Dave, good luck and of course you will keep us informed to what happened. Hopefully by early next year I will have a turbocharged 3.1 as well like some people here on thirdgen.

LOL, don't worry Dave, I'm picking it up in about five minutes. They actually converted it to both DVD and VHS for me, and from what I'm told, the VHS has much better sound for some reason. Can you use either one.....?
Also, lemme know where is a good place to meet up with you later on. If possible, go with an MPEG format, as it's easier for me to see online lately, for some reason or another....

heres a teaser vid till im done ripping the rest of this dvd
the track sucked i couldnt even load the converter on the line.so i ened up launching at 2,500 rpms instead fo 3,500+ not that it mattered anyway it spun the right rear tire a good 150+ ft down the track. if u listen u might be able to hear it bouncing off the revlimiter when i launched, down track u can finally hear the motor pull down when the tires hooked up
