crank pullers wtf
where does anyone get a puller to fit a 2.8??? man i tried auto zone, napa, advanced, and pepboys. not a puller that fit. then i went to lowes and home depot to try, nothing. so i finally just got some threaded poles and some metal plates, and im gonna drill some holes and make my own.

Re: crank pullers wtf
man i tried one, the thread for the middle of the crank damper is two small for the threaded bolt in the middle of the puller. and i just snaped the one i made so im ****ed. i cant get this **** off of here.
like iff you take the bolt off of the middle of the crank puller, the thread and blt size is much smaller than your standard size puller.

Re: crank pullers wtf
I don't think that you are supposed to put the center threaded rod of the puller into the crank directly...
If you don't have a "foot" for the center thread to rest on while it's on the end of the crank (with the big crank bolt removed) then flip a small socket over the puller threads that is close the the same size as the crank.
The small two or three holes in the outer part of the puller is where you put the bolts into the balancer and then take the balancer off by tightening the center threaded bolt or rod...

Re: crank pullers wtf
If we are talking about a balancer puller, the center bolt should have a cone that centers on the crankshaft bolt hole. I have used the same balancer puller for over twenty years on hundreds of egines, V6s included.
A balancer installer, now that has to thread into the crankshaft.

Re: crank pullers wtf
Make sure NOT to use the center crank bolt to "pull" the balancer back on!! I snapped my center bolt doing that- and it snapped clean at the crank snout. Only two options were replace the crank, or weld the balancer to the crank. I went for the welding option, my mechanic charged me $100- and its been holding since 1998. Of course, I can never change the timing chain again!
Everything I had read said "don't use the block of wood & hammer method because you'll ruin the balancer"- yeah, well, instead, I ruined my crankshaft. I would've rather ruined a $40 balancer. (laughs)
Either tap the balancer back on with a mallet and piece of wood, or, http://www.eastwoodcompany.com does sell a balancer installer with the correct metric adapters.
